It's the last day of the exams. I'm feeling happy that it's only one more day, but at the same time, I'm afraid. If I want to earn my soul gem and graduate, I'll need to pass these tests. There is one good thing that's come out of it if I can call it a good thing that is. These exams have distracted me from my sleepless nights, that dream is barely on my mind now. I've gotten used to it and I've managed to stop myself from seeing Victor. In my dreams, I can sense him behind me, but I'm in the state where I can partially control what happens so I always avoid turning around to see him.

For the first time, Charlotte doesn't knock at my door this morning so I decide to knock for her. When I leave my flat, however, Charlotte's leaning up against her door.

'Charlotte? Are you okay?'

'No. I'm not sure we're going to pass these exams, or we're not going to do well anyway.'

'Why do you think that?'

'You should have seen us yesterday. We did terribly, especially poor Spencer. I know he was nervous but I think his nerves are getting the better of him. If we do as badly today or worse, I don't think we're going to pass.'

'You can't think that way, Charlotte. With a mindset like that, you're more likely to fail.'

'But what can I do?'

'Can you ask to swap partners?'

'I don't think so, it's too late, and I couldn't do that to him, it would embarrass him and break his heart. I couldn't hurt him like that.'

'Then sorry to say it, but if you can't switch with someone else, you have to make do with him. And if you have to do that, you're going to have to be the one to carry the both of you.'

'So, no pressure then.'

'At least the written work is over, it's the Physicals today, they're easier.'

'Yeah for you because you're good at it and the Physicals make up most of the percentage. Isn't it like sixty or seventy percent? And I'm average.'

'But Spencer is above average, the Physicals are where his strengths lie.'

'That's true.'

'Besides, you don't need to be the best. Just show them that you know what you're doing, that'll be enough.'

'You think?'

'Yeah. They're not expecting you to be geniuses. They're looking to see if you can handle your spells and if you understand how they work.'

I'm happy to see Charlotte finally smile. I'm going to take this as an opportunity to get us on our way to school. 'Come on, Liam's probably wondering what we're doing.'

When we meet up with Liam and Spencer, Charlotte tells them of her thoughts and worries, leaving out the parts about Spencer, of course. Liam tries consoling her, he near enough says what I had said. I don't think it did much as both Charlotte and Spencer stay quiet, still unsure about the exams.

As before, we make our way to our first class to be given instructions. Sarah reminds us that we're going in groups instead of pairs this time and the exam will last one and a half hours. Group One's from each year will go first, then group Two's, Three's then Four's. We will be divided and separated into the Main Hall, Canteen and the pitch. Our group will be in the Main Hall, which I'm glad about, it's better than being outside. However, the downfall is that because we are in Group Four, we have to wait all day before we can do our exam.
