I walked into the house party — more like mansion party — with Linda in my ear, and Jessie by my side. The first thing I noticed was how impersonal the house appeared. There were no photos or mementos lying around, no personal affects of any kind. Which is sort of weird for a man with four children and a stay-at-home wife.
"Getting you guys into this party was the easy part, getting you out might hold some difficulty. Remember, you might see Ryder tonight, but don't get alarmed. He was invited."
I heard Linda's voice through the small ear piece I had placed in my left ear. "You do know this is Frank's party right?"
"I'm fully aware of that. I guess Frank just likes to keep his enemies close to him."
"Like he should."
I adjusted my black and white pen suit and glanced at Jessie. He was already looking at me.
"You just had to be extra and wear a suit? You couldn't wear a dress?"
I smirked. "What can I say? I just felt like looking like a boss bitch tonight."
He laughed. "Whatever let's split up. You go find Frank and I'll see if I can spot Cole."
He nodded and took off in another direction. I looked around at the party. This scene was totally different from Toxic Lips, it was more elegant and calm. Classical music played in the background. Couples swayed on the dance floor, and those who weren't dancing stood in groups, sipping their expensive wines while talking about rich people problems, I presume.
"Lucas isn't going to be on the last floor. He invited his supplier here tonight. They're upstairs talking."
Really? Doesn't he know he invited Cole? Isn't he afraid of him seeing his supplier? This shit is getting stupider by the second. At this point, fuck what Ryder has going on. I can just take down Frank and his supplier right now.
