Shield Base

5:05 pm

"We need to make a plan of attack now." Peter stated tersely, his forefinger jabbing down onto the table. He was getting irritated. Hell, everyone was getting irritated and the longer they stayed in the room the amount of tension seemed to only increase.

"We can't attack if we don't know where they are." Loki pointed out, and unfortunately he was right. It had been a few days since they have been missing, it was closing in on a week now and there was still no sign of them. Superheroes were sill getting picked off the grid as they spoke. Disappearing. One. By One.

Things were looking hopeless, and for once the heroes were stumped. Defeated before they could even act o-

Suddenly, the tv started to go on the fritz. The screen that was once filled with information was now gone. Black and white static refilled the blank screen, and the room couldn't be any quieter. It took a second before a face popped up on the screen; beaten and bloody, hollow cheeks and overly sickly. No one recognized who it was until they focused on the blue eyes and blonde hair.

"You're running out of time, and what would the avengers be without their precious Captain?"

The screen went black once and the uproar in the room afterwards was even worse than before.

Killgrave's Castle

4:30 pm

"Is the prisoner ready for our little conference?" Killgrave asked, a frown spread wide as he swished the glass in his hand, watching disappointingly as the liquid inside slouched the sides.

"Yes. His condition is weakening. He's ready for you sir." Stated a guard in front of him.

"What of the soldier?"

"He should be here shortly, sir."

"Good."

Castle's Dungeon

???

The sound of rustling brought Stark out of his light nap. Steve had finally fallen asleep, and the cough that had attacked his body before had vanished abruptly. It was strange no doubt but Tony was still weary of the man's condition.

Glancing over to his husband he saw that he was sound asleep. His chest rising and descending smoothly. So then if it wasn't Steve then?

"Prisoner Stark!" boomed a memorable voice that could only be described as a train, a whistle to it that made it seem airy yet still loud enough to wake up an entire block. "I present to you, the great Killgrave."

Tony who only stared back at the dungeon keeper let out a small huff of air. Waiting silently for the oh so glorious man to pop out of the dancing shadows behind the dungeon keeper. Yet. Nothing happened.

"No offense, but I'm pretty sure you're little cue didn't work so well Baldie." Tony snarked back lightly with a simple roll of his hand, and a flash of condescending smirk following in pursuit.

"He will be he-"

Just as soon as the words flew out of the keepers mouth the purple man slithered his way over to the cell. Arms folded behind his back and a grin ever so long smothered across his face. He looked gruesome, cynical and ever so sinister. The pearls in his mouth gleaming even in the dark gloom of the dungeon halls. It was strange and unnatural that it chilled anyone to the core.

"Well, well , well if it isn't Tony Stark himself. The lovable and oh so dysfunctional Tony Stark. Oh! Where are my manners! And in the corner we have a sick yet patriotic Steve Rogers. I guess our little knockout shot did its job." Killgrave glance stayed locked on the man for a few seconds before traveling back over to Tony. Who looked more angry than anything.

"What did you do to him?" Tony should have know the man was behind this, that he was the reason Steve was so sick to the point that food couldn't be held down, sleep made his condition worse, and a fever that ran just a degree below cooking the man alive. His immune system was failing him and the serum...the serum.

"What did I do? I simply created a opening in my ever so long game of chess. I've taken your knight and your pawns and I will soon take your bishop, King and then your glorious queen will be mine." Killgrave explained with a smirk, walking back and forth with a sense of arrogance that stunk the room and stuck to the walls around them. He was so sure of himself. That this plan would work out for the better. Hell, he might be right, but everyone knows that anyone who's that cocky is sure to fall down.

Fall down hard.

Only he didn't see this at all. The arrogance had drugged him to the point of not being aware of the other heroes stranded about who had the possibility of taking him down. Eve-

The sound of footsteps echoed around the dungeon, and if one strained their hearing they could hear the ever so quiet whurring of metal. As time passed the sounds grew louder and it wasn't long before the owner of the footsteps came into sight.

The asset had arrived.

"It's about time that you got here!" Killgrave hissed, turning around to the stoic soldier who simply kept quiet to the comment. "Not much of a talker huh?" A gruesome smile crossed the purple man's mouth as he returned back to his prisoners whom were surprisingly quiet.

"My package has arrived and as much as I'd like to stay down here and chat with you. I have important business to attend to. Goodbye Mr. Stark." The laugh that exits his mouth is chilling to the bone and Tony couldn't help but shiver at the sound of it.

"Bucky..." Steve had awoken at some point, his eyelids barely keeping open long enough to see to his long lost friend. "...Bucky.." The captain's voice was barely above a whisper, and it was a surprise that the soldier even responded to the calls. Long hair swishing as his head turned to the sick man on the bed, he didn't speak at all but there was some sort of recognition in his eyes. As if he knew this man from somewhere. But where?

"Come!" Killgrave barked as he began to walk away from the cell, fingers snapping as if he was calling a dog. The soldier obeyed immediately, sauntering after the man with his metal arm gleaming even in the dim lighting of the dungeon.

"Bucky.." Steve called out once more. Only it was pointless by that point. It was too late.
