He shimmied happily to sit at the island while she worked, his eyes fixated on the flame of the lit candles, and then on her pouty lips when she blew out the match.

She picked up the cake and walked it over to where he sat. "If anyone complains about the cake being hacked into, I'm blaming you."

"Fair enough," he smiled victoriously.

Sitting the tower of confection in front of him, Hyun-Ji picked up his camera and pressed record, capturing Hyori's wonderment, the affection in Jungkook's eyes and the appreciation in his smile as they both looked in awe at the multi-layer cake.

"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you!"

His head whipped around to look at her, and astonishment on his face made her giggle mid-song. "I've never heard you sing before! You sound so sweet!"

She felt her cheeks burn from both smiling so much and his compliment, but finished the song anyway. "Happy birthday, Jungkookie, happy birthday to you!"

"Can you sing more often?" He asked.

"Yes, now make a wish, silly! The wax is melting!"

He made sure to hold Hyori's curious hand to his chest before closing his eyes for several moments. His lips moved fractionally as he said his wish to himself, then he blew out the candles with as much enthusiasm as a 7-year-old.

Hyun-Ji cheered and retrieved a knife for him to cut the cake, but he had already dipped his fingers into the icing and was giving Hyori some of the sweet confection. The infant took a moment, her little brow furrowed as she tasted the new treat, and decided she wanted more, her large eyes looking up at her father in askance.

"She's going to be awake through her nap time now," Hyun-Ji complained.

"Good. Then she'll sleep overnight," he murmured, arching an eyebrow suggestively.

"You are so immature," she chuckled. "I'm going to get your gift since you've already ruined the surprise." She ended the recording and set the camera on the island, heading for their bedroom.

"I said not to buy me anything," he called after her.

"I didn't," she called back.

In the corner of their closet sat a red box, a white ribbon tied neatly on top of it. She grabbed it and ran back down the stairs to find him popping a strawberry into his mouth.

The box was sat in front of him with a smile, and she took Hyori from his lap. "Happy birthday, baby."

"Thank you," he said softly, catching her by the waist before she could move away. He then stood up and kissed her tenderly, ignoring the light smacks to his face by his daughter.

"Open it," she smiled. She then placed Hyori back into her swing.

Following her directions, he sat back on the chair and took the top off the box. The inside of the lid was decorated with hearts, stars, and swirls in different colors, along with an inscription:

Inside this box are letters for my love.
The one for whom I thank the stars above.
In each envelope are my feelings for you.
So that no matter the situation, you know my love is true:

There's a letter for when you're happy,
A letter for when you're sad.
A letter for the good days,
And a letter for when things go bad.
A letter for when you miss me,
A letter for when we fight,
And a letter to say I love you, and that everything will be alright.
