EIMI DOES HER BEST TO SERVE THE FIRE NATION. She ignores the power running through her veins that could turn the tide in any war. The power that threatens to emerge whenever danger is near. The power that pulls her to the edge of the ocean, basking under the light of the full moon. She turned her back on her people, or at least, half of her people. They are weak, her mother would hiss into the ear of a child Eimi. And they were. Only idiots would live in a city made of ice and surrounded by water. Only fools would sideline half of their population because of what's between their legs (or lack thereof). Eimi knew the Fire Nation was superior. Winter always cedes to spring. Ice always melts. Lighting beats water. It was basic fact. Besides, little could stand in the way of fire.
Eimi was a proud citizen of the Fire Nation. She was proud to be the stepdaughter of a great general. She was proud to train to protect the princess (albeit Azula never needed much of that) and serve as her eyes and ears. She always had the best interest of the Fire Nation at heart. She never questioned her leaders or their designs. But when Azula sends Eimi to kill the exiled prince and their uncle, things change. She starts questioning if she should kill the rightful heirs to the throne. She starts questioning why Azula needs so much power. Why Azula feels the need to dominate everyone in her life. She starts questioning why the Fire Nation needs so much power. But most importantly, she starts questioning if fire truly was indestructible.
After all, the empire it built wasn't.
