Chapter 7 - Through x The x Tower

I walk to where Kurapika had stayed the night. When I reach the entrance to his room, I shrug off his top layer of clothing and, without glancing into the room beforehand, throw them somewhere inside.

Before being able to turn and walk away, I'm being hoisted onto someone's shoulders, with said-person running with their full speed away from a shirtless Illumi. I conclude this fact as I steal a glance at the commotion behind me.

I crack a smile and let out tiny, secluded giggles as I take in the scene I was dragged into. Hisoka has me hoisted atop of his shoulders, with me slinging my arms firmly around his neck for support. An angered, shirtless pin-faced Illumi is close on Hisoka's tail as he chases after the two of us.

Illumi begins yelling insults toward Hisoka for dragging me into this. Illumi is desperately trying to chase down Hisoka in an attempt to retrieve his shirt and vest. This scene is most certainly vine-worthy.

Hisoka lets out a deep chuckle as the two come to a stop once reaching the exit of the airship, gasping for breath as he breaks into a fit of deep, seemingly sadistic laughter. Illumi just glares at Hisoka, quickly snatching back his clothes and lifting me from his shoulders. After hastily pulling on the top half of his outfit, Illumi holds my waist, pulling my back flush against his chest.

I smile a little and turn my attention toward the crowd of examinees ahead of us, all talking amongst themselves as they wait for the examiners to come. I hold my hands to Illumi's surprisingly soft hands.

"Thanks for saving me back there, Illu," I say in a whisper, a light giggle following as I recall the duo's antics earlier on. I can just barely hear Illumi's breath hitch and feel his heart beat faster than before.

"You're welcome," Replies Illumi monotonously, attempting to suppress a newfound happiness caused by my new nickname for him.

I lightly nudge Illumi using my elbow, gesturing toward the large crowd of examinees. "We should probably head over to where everyone else is," I suggest, lightly tugging on his warm hand. Illumi only nods, following me with a very light pink blush dusting over his purple complexion.

Illumi receives many envious glares from a few other brave applicants, including Killua and Hisoka, as an examiner arrives and explains that we need to reach the bottom of the tower before the time limit of 72 hours is up. With that said, the examiner wishes us all good luck and vanishes along with the airship.

I waste no time at all, my eyes gliding along every brick of the tower, searching for anything out of the ordinary. I conclude that climbing down would prove to be quite the troublesome task. I tug on Illumi's hand, guiding him toward two slightly displaced bricks. In no time flat, we both step on the two bricks sitting parallel to the other.
