I sat silently with my face emotionless, not even being able to listen to the class today.
Why was everything going so wrong? What happened all of a sudden? Was the world about to end or what?
"Sia!"
I jerked and looked straight at Mr. Kevin looking at me angrily.
"How many times do I have to tell you to focus on the class!? Don't you get it!? This casual attitude is going to get you nowhere!"
I sighed and nodded before starting copying the meaning of the words he dictated.
I'm really a duffer. Good for nothing. I can't even study properly. Which college will take me with this result of mine? How far can I go with the same marks everytime? And yet, there's no motivation for me to study.
"The next time you start zoning out like this, you'll be standing outside the class."
I looked down at my notebook, with the same expression.
What would my mother be doing right now? Is she drinking again? God! I can't get it out of my head.
.....
I stared at the pen in my hand and the minimal things I wrote down on my notebook. No notes, no doodles, nothing.
"Sia, class is over."
I nodded at his voice and got up closing my notebook and picking it up in my hand.
"Sia..."
I looked at Mr. Kevin and he was looking somewhere else. Who called me then?
"Sia!"
I looked back and saw Zayden standing there. I didn't even notice him today in the class, although he was sitting right beside me.
"Yeah?"
"Your eraser..."
I looked at his stretched out hand in which he held the eraser and then back at him.
"You can have it. You lost yours."
And then I walked away...like a zombie.
Eliana didn't come to school today. She cought food poisoning yesterday and would be on bed for the rest of the week.
"Yes, she is the one. Who takes those anti depressants."
I looked slightly to my right at the girls talking again about things they knew nothing about. The rumours were just increasing day by day and they were getting spicier too. The recent one was that I was taking antidepressants because my only boyfriend broke up with me.
I rolled my eyes and walked into the class, sat on one of the corners again with my hoody on my head, hiding my face.
He stepped in the now full class and looked around with his piercing gaze. I looked down, not wanting to come into his view and he didn't take my name either.
Maybe he didn't notice me.
.....
I was a fool to even think that. That he didn't notice me, that he had no intention of troubling me.
"Okay then, start your presentation.", he said and laid back on the chair. The chair beside me.
He asked last week to prepare some kind of presentation and was now looking at it, sitting in the back seat and obviously getting a reason to sit beside me since there wasn't any empty seat.
The nerds started with their presentation and I felt him looking at me once or twice.
"You can put that hoody down. No point hiding now.", he whispered close to my ears and it shivered me to my core.
