As Rye got ready for bed, Xavier watched her, feeling a sense of solace. They were going to be okay, life was looking up for them now.
He wanted Exton with them all the time. All day he thought about the little boy.
I'm a father, Xavier thought to himself all day. He walked around with a huge grin on his face. He ordered toys and extra clothes for his son and even told mardick to empty one of the rooms next to his.
"Do you think Exton will like his room?" He asked Rye as she changed into her pajamas.
"I think he will love it," Rye said smiling, "Maybe you should have him pick out stuff."
"That's a good idea," Xavier nodded. He laughed nervously thinking, once again, about the idea that he was a father.
"I know," Rye said getting into bed, "It's taking me a while to get used to the idea too."
Xavier pulled Rye into his chest and kissed her, "Thank you."
"For bringing him into this world,"
"Technically, I didn't give birth to him yet," Rye laughed.
"It's all so strange," Xavier scanned Rye's beautiful eyes.
Rye placed her head upon his chest and laid still for a while.
"Something on you mind, love?"
Rye said up slowly, "I've been thinking all day..."
"I don't want anyone knowing about Exton yet," Rye said slowly. She was worried about how he would take the news. She knew Xavier was over the moon with his son.
Xavier pondered over Rye's words, "Why not?"
"Well...there's so much going on," Rye explained. "There are people already after me and I don't want Exton to be their next target...I couldn't live with him being in danger."
Xavier nodded slowly, "You are right."
"I know how you feel about keeping me safe. I can't explain it. I didn't carry him for nine months, I didn't give birth to him, but suddenly it's like my world moves around him..."
Xavier gave her a soft smile, "You're going to be an amazing mother."
Rye laughed nervously, "Wow! Ah that feels strange hearing it."
They both laughed.
"I agree with your decision," Xavier said after a while. "We won't tell anyone who he is."
"Who do we say he is?"
Xavier thought about it for a while.
"If anyone asks, tell them he is one of my godsons from America. The son of Levi Cooper."
"One of your godsons? How many do you have?" Rye laughed, "And who's Levi Cooper?"
"He's was an old friend. His wife and him passed away last year in an airplane accident. Their son is my godson."
"Where is he?"
"He's in boarding school."
"Oh," Rye said.
"Exton is about his age," Xavier explained, "We can say he's here visiting."
Rye nodded, "Okay."
