I was sitting on the couch, working on my culture paper with Luke. Luke was writing about the imaginary planet he think came from, Krypton, and I don't think anyone will believe he's from there. The planet blew up and it's imaginary.
I was writing about the Hawaiian culture, because I've always wanted to go to Hawaii and it just seems so fascinating to learn about. I was about halfway through my paper when Jessie walked over to us with a basket of strawberries and messy hair.
"Hey, Luke, JJ, what are you guys working on?!" She shouts and I lean back.
"Homework!" We both shouted back.
"I must have blown an eardrum in the helicopter. It sounded like Luke said he was working on homework." Jessie chuckles, sticking her finger in her ear.
"Nice hair." I grinned and she sticks her tongue out at me.
"I am. I finally get to do a report on something I know a lot about." Luke explains.
"Your school's letting you write a paper on under-the-bed pizza box fungus?" Jessie guesses and I snicker.
"I wish." Luke scoffs and I wrinkle my nose in disgust at that. Jessie sits down next to me.
"Our social studies class has a Multicultural Night where we have to do a report and presentation on a foreign land." I inform her.
I know Hawaii isn't exactly foreign, but my teacher allowed me to do my report on it.
"Here's mine." I state before reading my first sentence. "Hawaii is a series of islands in the Pacific Ocean with a population of 1.4 million people, and the culture of Native Hawaiians is around 1500 years old."
"Wow, that's amazing JJ." Jessie compliments and I grin at her.
"I agree, she's amazing." Luke sighs dreamily, and we stare at the boy who was gazing at me.
"Yo, lover boy, let's see what you got." Jessie snaps her fingers and he blinks a few times.
"Oh, right." He blushes before reading. "The planet Krypton's chief exports, include multicolored, poisonous rocks and Superman".
I roll my eyes with a tiny smile and Jessie wanted to laugh, but didn't.
"You can't do your report on Krypton." Jessie tells him.
"Because it blew up?" He questions.
"Because it's imaginary." I reason and he pouts.
"Luke, if you need help researching other cultures, Zuri was born in Uganda and Ravi's from India." Jessie informs Luke and I nod. "Do you see what I'm getting at?"
"Yep. Once again, Emma's completely useless." Luke points out and I couldn't argue on that and Jessie just nodded her head with confusion.
I wonder how many times Luke has said that before.
