❤︎Mike decided he would go to the diner early this morning so he could grab a hot cocoa for Chloe. She wasn't feeling good the night before when she arrived home so he thought he would surprise her. As he pulled into the diner driveway there was no one there, as usual. He couldn't see El in there yet but he was sure she was back in the kitchen doing something.
He parked the car and stepped outside, the cool morning air hitting his face in a rush. Walking forward he looked inside the diner and finally saw El inside the diner over by the jukebox. He stopped outside before he entered the diner and just stood there. El was jumping around like a little kid, dancing to some song that was playing loudly from inside the diner.
A small smile found its way onto his face just by watching her dance around. She was holding a straw in her hand to replicate a microphone as she sang the lyrics without a care in the world, totally oblivious to Mike standing right outside. Mike barely ever saw this side of her, the silly side.
But he wanted to see it more because he had to admit, it was kind of cute.
When the song ended El bowed to her imaginary audience and Mike took this opportunity to go up to the glass door and knock. El turned her head to see him standing outside and she hoped he didn't see any of that. She straightened out her apron and walked towards the door, she opened the door and let Mike inside.
"I loved the personal concert." Mike said making El turn bright red, "Oh God, you saw all that?" Mike nodded with a smug grin on his face. "Ugh, I'm so embarrassed... sorry you had to witness that." She mumbled as she rubbed her temples with her fingers. Mike shrugged, "I don't judge."
She sighed, that didn't help. "Well um... what's up?" She asked, her face still bright red. "Oh nothing, I just came to pick up a hot chocolate for Chloe, she wasn't feeling good when she got home last night."
El nodded and walked back to the kitchen, Mike following. "Oh, how are you feeling? I know you weren't feeling good either."
Why did he have to be so nice? It was making this whole thing even worse for El.
"I'm fine. Dustin got me some ice cream and we watched some movies, so I'm feeling much better." She started heating the milk and started to make the hot cocoa mix. "You make your own hot chocolate mix?" Mike asked out of surprise. "Yeah, it tastes much better. I promise." El said with a light laugh.
Soon enough she finished making the mix and got the milk out of the microwave and started mixing it all. When she was finished she poured it into a to-go cup and sprinkle some marshmallows over the top. She put a lid on top and handed it to Mike, "There ya' go."
He smiled at her, "Thank you very much, how much do I owe you?" Mike pulled his wallet out of his back pocket but El stopped him, "No, no. Your all set, it's on me."
Mike chuckled, "You've got to stop giving me free food." El shook her head, "I do it with all my friends." Not exactly true, she only did it for Dustin and Mike... But that's not the point. "If you say so, but next time I'm paying and you can't tell me otherwise."
She put her hands up in surrender, "Alright, alright. Well, you better get going,"
"Right, see you later." He turned around and started to walk out of the diner, "see you later.." She mumbled.

Mike was on his way to Chloe's house, the hot cocoa in the center cup holder. As he turned down her street her house became visible and there was a car in the driveway he didn't recognize. He pulled into her driveway behind the car and he grabbed the hot chocolate and began walking towards her house.
