It was time to dig into the shield files that were connected to Hydra. You long suspected your brother of being involved with them as your parents were, but you sincerely hoped you were wrong. The walk to the subway drew some eyes, you keep forgetting that being Tony's daughter didn't go unnoticed. He's also got a lot of enemies, so it's important to stay on your toes.
When people started doing double takes, you threw up your hood and put on some sunglasses.
"I don't think that's going to lose them."
"Christ, Peter!" You exclaimed, your heart stuttering from the surprise.
"That parking garage was nothing, huh?" He smirked.
"It got a little messy, but it's fine." You then thought for a moment, "So, you followed me as Spiderman, right?"
"Yeah, I changed in the alley right before this, and I gotta say, you're pretty stealthy."
"Are you flirting with me?" You teased and he blushed.
"I listened in, so you don't have to tell me," He said after a moment, "Mr. Fury can't be involved, right? That's just nuts."
"Is it?" You asked as you both hopped on the nearly empty subway, taking a seat next to each other, "Peter, what if he knows what happened to my brother and that's why the files are too hard for me and Tony to get into?"
"I always found it kind of weird that you never told me his name." He thought out loud.
"That's because he shares my father's name, Ilya." You said quietly, "I just don't really like to use it because it reminds me of my father and my brother is nothing like him."
"I understand." He nodded, taking your hand in his.
"Are you Tony Stark's daughter?" A voice asked, standing above you two.
"Yeah-" You stopped when you looked up to the person.
"I'm a huge fan, can I get a picture?" He widened his eyes and pulled out his phone.
"Y-yes." You answered, standing up on shaky legs, and Peter was confused to why you were acting differently.
The man gestured with the phone like he was taking a picture with you both almost cheek to cheek, but his phone was opened on the notes app. It said,
'You're being followed. Go straight to the Tower.'
"Thanks for the picture!" He smiled and you just stared at him.
"Yeah, o-okay." You nodded after you coughed.
"What was that?" Peter asked when the man went into the next train car.
"I just get nervous around new people." You lied, not wanting to explain it.
Before Peter said anything, you squeezed his hand three times to show him that you didn't want to talk about it right now. You were thankful you had developed that code a while back because right now you needed him to stay calm.
"I think I'll stay with you at the Tower today." He said after a moment.
"Yeah, I think that would be best, maybe we could study together." You suggested and he nodded.
When the train stopped, you got off swiftly and Peter had trouble keeping up with you even as you gripped his hand. You needed to remember to just keep in public and get to the Tower. Thankfully, you both made it to the Tower safely in under five minutes. You scanned in and went up to the living room where you knew Tony was taking a break with Pepper because you texted her.
