Sometimes you get really annoyed when you run in the Maze with Minho. He just takes off on you as if he’s better than you and for some reason it gets under your skin. One time, you were mapping around your section and you stop dead. Oh no. You realise that you are thirsty and you had finished it ages ago. You have to get back to the Glade. One problem – you can draw maps, but have difficulty reading them. Groaning inwardly, you try your best to find your way back. And with success. You see the Glade as a dot but you bump into someone else. It was Minho. “Julia, what are you doing?!” Minho basically screams at you. His raised voice brings chills down your spine. “I needed water,” you reply hoarsely, in desperate need for something to quench your thirst. You feel dizzy and you land in Minho’s arms. He fishes out his water from his pack and gives it to you. You take it with a gratifying look in your eyes and raise the rim to your lips. But before you can, your eyes start to see fuzzy and your eyes fell heavier and you pass out.

You wake up and find yourself in the med-house. Your head is pounding. You see Jeff attending to another boy you’ve never seen and you see Minho at the door. You wave to him and he comes in and grasps for your hand, rolling it around in his. “Minho, what happened?” you ask croakily. “You nearly died, Julia. Clint says you could’ve died from heat exhaustion.” “Well, maybe if you didn’t push me as hard, I might still be running,” you mutter under your breath. Minho releases your hand and stands up. “What does that supposed to mean?” he asks aggressively. Oh no. Now you’ve done it. “Well, I mean-“ but Minho had already left the room. You sigh and put your face in your hands.

A few days later, you are allowed out of the med-house and get back to running. In the morning, you stand as usual outside the Doors. You hear a pair of footsteps approaching you. You turn around and see Thomas wiping his forehead. “Haven’t seen you in a while, Julia,” he says, taking a swig of water. You shrug. “Yeah, it honestly doesn’t matter that I nearly died from heat exhaustion.” Thomas’ mouth drops. “No one ever told me!” “Well, Minho should’ve,” you say in a bitter tone. Before Thomas could say anything, the Door parted and the two of you jog into the Maze. As you run up the first corridor, you hear a set of footsteps fast approaching and you see Minho sprinting past you. Before you could open your mouth to say something, it was time for the three of you to part. You branch to different paths and you start to map your section.

For what only seemed like ten minutes, you are still running until you hear a rumble. Oh no. That means the door closed and…. Crack. Silence. This is bad. Really bad. You have been trapped in the Maze for the night, and there was no Minho to save you.
