"Come on! Come on!" I laughed hysterically down the long winding road to my family's house.
"Hajime wait for us!" My mother called as I sped away at full speed.
"Yayyyy!" I was so happy to be out in the country again running down the dirt road.
I slipped and fell landing on my knees skidding to a stop.
"Ow!" I then cried out as the blood surfaced on my knee caps."Hajime!" My mother scooped me up examining my damaged knees.
"I told you to be careful." She sighed chuckling a bit and stroking my hair in comfort.
My tears were streaming down my face, but as my mom held me close they began to dry.
"Are you okay honey?" She rubbed my back soothingly.I nodded standing up on shaky legs.
My mother's hair seemed to light up in the sun just like mine did glistening as we began to walk.
We walked towards my grandparents house slowly.
My mother pointed out each tree and thing from her childhood.
I remember really liking the sheep that were running up and down the gate to the pasture."Are you excited to see them?" I nodded again holding on to her hand tightly. The shakyness in my legs had gone away but they still burned. My dad walked next to us grasping my tiny hand.
"Wanna do the jump thing?" He askedMy smile reappeared on my face.
"Okay, 1...2...3!" They lifted me into the air as I broke out in giggles.
I felt like I belonged.

I breathed in awaking from the slim bed that was upstairs in the hospital.
I didn't even know how long it had been.
Had it been days?
I yawned stretching and sitting up.
The door knob squeaked open and to my surprise it was Kazuichi and Chiaki.
I hadn't seen them in a while and it was nice to see them."Hey Hajime." Chiaki breathed in slowly.
"We didn't want to wake you." Kazuichi said.
"How's he been?" Chiaki questioned.
I guess today was the day they were coming to visit"He's...okay for now." They nodded.
"Good." They sat down in the stray chairs from around the room.
"How are you doing Hajime?" I couldn't even answer that.
Yeah, Chiaki I'm in love with my friend who's very sickly and could die any minute.
"I'm okay." I held back the tears that had welded up in my eyes."Good." She smiled softly as Kazuichi walked over to me.
"We miss you dude! But we're here for you too." I smiled extending a hand to Kazuichi's shoulder.
"Thank you." He nodded
"It's no big deal."
"You too Chiaki." Smiling she stood up.
Then the door swung open.Mikan ran inside giving me a look I hoped I wouldn't see while I was here.
"What's going on?" I questioned.
"You need to come downstairs." We all walked fast down the hallway and stairs down to the room Nagito was in.
I opened it to a sickly looking Nagito.
His face was the palest I had ever seen and he was putting his hands on his head in pain.
I immediately rushed over hanging onto his forearm.
"What's going on?" I asked in a semi quiet voice.
He didn't respond.Mikan walked over gesturing to him.
"He can't remember."
My eyes widened in shock.
No this couldn't be happening.
"Remember what?" I said in a worried tone.
"Things, people, events. He's just scared I thought I'd get you." I nodded and tried prying his hands from his face. But he just shook his head.
So instead I did what my mother always used to do when I was upset.
I rubbed his back soothingly.
"What's going on?" I sat on the side of his bed waiting for any answer I could get.
"I'm so confused." I could see the tears coming down from his eyes rolling and falling off his cheeks."Why are you confused?" I asked awaiting an answer.
"I don't...I don't know who she is. Or where I am." He pointed to Mikan. I sighed holding back the water in my head.
"Well that's Mikan, and Chiaki and Kazuichi are over there. We're on a trip for school remember?" He breathed in deeply taking in the air removing his hands from his damp face.Chiaki waved at him as Kazuichi had a worried expression smeared across his face.
Then it hit me.
"Do you know who I am?"
His head lifted up as he nodded.
"Hajime. Your my good friend Hajime." He said patting my face lightly. A rush of relief ran through my body.
He still then looked over at everyone confused, almost scared of them."Hey guys do you mind if we have a couple minutes alone?" I questioned standing back up.
They all nodded.
"We'll be outside in the hall." Kazuichi turned to leave with Mikan.
"Hajime, take your time." Chiaki quietly said as she closed the door shut.I turned my attention back to Nagito who was now just staring at me.
"You really can't remember?" He sighed shaking his head slightly.
"Yes but, it all comes and goes it's like patchy memories." My hands slowly reached his shoulders.
"It's okay I'll be here. You can get through this." His eyes welled up as I felt his impact on me. I wrapped my hands around him.
"It will be okay." He just sobbed not stopping. How long had it been?
When's the last time someone had hugged him?
I didn't even want to think about it.
"Hey you remember me right? I'm sure you'll remember everyone else." His crying slowed as he nodded on my shoulder.I released my grip, although I didn't want to let go. He wiped his face off and looked over at the the door way. Are eyes met once again in complete silence.
"I.." He trailed off and didn't say another word.
"Yeah?" I waited but nothing came.
His face was flushed which confused me.
He couldn't....like me right?
My heart raced for an answer."Nothing, maybe we should let everyone back in. I really want to remember." I sighed as my fast heartbeat resumed to a slow pace.
Why would I ever think he'd like me.
I stared over at the door.
"Yeah...I guess we should."

"I'm so glad your remembering Nagito!" Chiaki's usual happy self threw her hands up in joy.
"Me too." He smiled at me as my usual butterflies swarmed in.
"Yeah, I hate when I don't remember things, I'm Sorry." Mikan was checking his heart rate while we continued our conversation."Y-your doing m-much better Nagito." She put down some scribbles on her note pad.
"Your w-welcome to l-leave now if you want."
"We should celebrate." Kazuichi exclaimed.
"I'll take everyone down to the diner my treat." We all happily shouted.
Nagito's smile appeared on his face.
I was so happy he was going to be okay, but I knew it could come back.I pushed the thoughts out of my head.
I didn't need to think about that at the moment.
