The chime of a clock tower cracked the air.
Matthew stared at the walls of children looming over the sides of the track. This was it. Soon he'll be zooming down Maple Hill. His heart began to pound as the recent days and weeks flashed before him.
'It is time, racers!'
If anyone had told him not too long ago that he would be free and racing for the freedom of other children, he would have thought them crazy.
'ON YOUR MARKS!'
He thought of his family, his father, his grandmother. He thought of his new family. And he thought of the children from Bordash Manor, hoping they'll join him someday.
'GET SET!'
For the children.
'GO!'
