New York is beautiful.
The lights, the constant hustle and bustle, the noise, and yes- even the people.
I live in a big studio apartment.
My bed sits in the back corner to the right with a sheer canopy hanging over it.
My makeshift bathroom consists of a rustic sink, a toilet, a bathtub with a shower attachment, and a mirror.
It is secluded from the rest of my space with a large divider.
I have a flat screen television mounted on my wall in front of my white leather couch, fluffy black rug, and messy as ever coffee table.
The kitchen is just as normal as any other kitchen.
My easel and sketchbooks and things of the artsy nature are near the giant window that looks out over the city.
New York is beautiful.
I lay down on my bed and open my laptop to check my emails.
Peggy FaceTimes me, and I answer.
"Hi, gorgeous!" She gushes.
I laugh and smile at her.
"Hey, Peg."
"How's life in luxurious NYC?" She asks.
"Life is great. It's so loud here."
She nods.
"I know. The boys were on TV today. I was in the audience." She tells me, her green eyes wide.
"That's so cool! I've always wanted to see Ellen live. How did it go?" I ask her.
She avoids the camera and looks around, as if she's making sure she's alone.
That's when I realize she's not in her apartment.
"Well, uh," she whispers, "Calum talked about you. He said he still loves you, and-"
"Pegs- who's that? My god, is that Caroline?"
Michael's face pops onto the screen.
"It is her! Hi, Caroline!" Michael waves at me.
I smile and give him a small wave.
"Hi, Mike. Excited for tour?" I ask him.
"Extremely. Did Peggy tell you?"
I scrunch my eyebrows together and shake my head.
"Tell me what?"
Michael pecks her cheek like a chicken.
"We're a thing." He tells me.
"We're dating." Peggy corrects him.
"A thing." He kisses her cheek again and walks out.
"Michael doesn't do labels." She says, as if I don't know him at all.
Which, come to think of it, I don't.
I really don't know any of the boys except for Calum.
And now that I think of that, I didn't know him too well either.
I just knew I wanted him.
To be with him.
But what's done is done.
"Caro, did you hear me?" Peggy asks.
I shake my head.
"No, sucky connection here. What was that?"
"I just said that I like Mike a lot. Also, Calum misses you. He misses you more and more everyday."
"You sure are spending a lot of time with them." I nod.
"Don't avoid my statement."
"Don't state things like that."
She sighs.
"Caroline."
"Peggy, I told you- and Calum- that I moved on. It's been almost three weeks. I'm fine, Peggy. I'm sorry that he hasn't moved on, but it's really not my issue."
"It's late here, Caroline." Is all she says.
"It's late here too. I'll call you sometime this week."
"Just- promise me something."
"Yeah."
"Yeah?"
I nod, letting her continue.
"Go to the show in New York. It's next week- the first show of the tour."
"I'll see what I can do."
"No, Caro. Make it happen."
I nod at Peggy, already falling asleep.
"I'll make it happen."
And then I'm asleep.
