Fahad Al Tamimi is one of the most reputable architectural designers in Europe, focusing in the creation of modern-day, ground breaking designs.

The architect operates his eponymous firm, [ Fahad Al Tamimi Architecture], from the United Kingdom. Originally from Dubai yet growing up in London, Fahad Al Tamimi applied his ability for art to improve from creative acknowledgment by top galleries to a profession in architectural design.

What made you develop into an architect as opposed to an artist?

While I won honours and had considerable popularity as an artist when I was a teenager, I really had an appreciation for architecture I couldn't neglect. I cherished wandering the streets of London and noticing the various architectural styles, and I wanted to produce something like that personally. I wanted to make an imprint on the skyline of Britain and beyond, and being an architectural designer was the manner to do that.

What influences you to come up with architectural designs?

I am inspired by natural designs, and through the power of nature to create constructs that stand the test of time. A substantial part of my business is developing sustainable concepts that harness the best of nature's gifts, so I feel I am inspired by the organically occurring designs seen across the globe.

What do you think about the latest trend for rendering architectural designs?

I believe supplying a prospective customer with a render of an architectural design is helpful for talks of how the end design should look, eventhough predictably it can confuse the hopes of the client. Architectural sketches, expert graphic designs-- you can't compete with that for a precise representation of how something will turn out. In some cases customers need to imagine the creation through imagery, yet you need to stress that the end result may not equal that design exactly, purely since it's not strictly a perfect match to the initial design by the architect.

How would you show your work to your clients?

I love making use of to scale models. Making them is fun, and it provides a more precise portrayal of what a job will ultimately turn out to be. We do utilize renders but it's more for the overall appearance of the project, instead of the genuine design.

Where do you typically work?

Our workplaces are totally beautiful, and we were lucky enough to design the majority of the office ourselves. I regularly operate on the go, however, as I travel frequently to visit customers around Europe. I work on airplanes, in bistros on napkins, from home on sketch pads-- you name it! I often visit Kew Gardens to discover some organic motivation.

Do you still do art work?

Indeed, I paint frequently, and work on bizarre design creations that might not come to fruition. I delight in painting outdoors, and paint at home -- it is quite relaxing. I frequently produce my finest features for designs while doodling.
