The night before had replayed in my mind consuming my thoughts.
It was one of the best nights of my life.
I sighed as I threw Kazuichi another pole from the gazebo.
We had gotten up early to take it down since everyone was too tired the night before. But all I could think about was his head resting on my shoulder and the moon reflecting off the calm water. Both of us holding on to the other swaying in the wind.
I blinked the thoughts away continuing to grab the sheet that had been over our heads just the night before.Kazuichi let out an enormous yawn.
"Man, am I tired." He expressed throwing another pole into a large bag.
"Me too." I said.
The beach was clear besides a few string of lights that were buried snuggly in the sand.I wiped off the sandy grains on my pants, brushing it off into the air.
"Thanks for helping me out Hajime, I didn't want to worry everyone else with cleaning up." He patted me on the back putting an arm around my neck.
"Your welcome Kazuichi." We collected the bag full of metal poles that were left on the ground to be put away. The sky was hiding part of the sun so it peeked through the soft white clouds.
Waves in the ocean were a mess splashing wildly onto the shore.
The whole time we'd been here on the island I had never seen weather this beautiful."Looks really nice out today." Kazuichi motioned his hand to the sky.
"Yeah, it really is." Kazuichi motioned to the sky."Hey I'll meet up with you soon. How about we meet at the restaurant as always?" He suggested as I nodded in agreement.
He wandered down the road as I stood there in the soft breeze.

I walked down the breezy path right next to the pool, the trees were swaying making me feel a happy presence. I stopped and looked up closing my eyes.
I heard the footsteps of someone else through the soft breeze. I opened my eyes and turned around to see Chiaki slightly jogging to me"Chiaki?" I questioned through the breeze whipping my hair.
"Hajime. I need to talk to you." Her jacket was almost flying away because of the wind.
She said something under her breath I didn't understand."Let's go somewhere else to talk." I said continuing past the small pool. She nodded and we walked over to one of the buildings that had an over hang.
"Hajime, I don't want you to freak out." She started.
"Okay." I stood while the sun slightly hit my eyes. She fiddled with her hands nervously and watched my expression.
"What's wrong Chiaki?" My heart beated in worried ness.
"Well, Nagito sort of fell this morning at the restaurant. We tried to help him up but he was kinda weak. So Mikan is watching him in the hospital."
I sighed in relief."So he's going to be okay right? Just hurt from the fall." She shifted uncomfortably sighing.
"Right Chiaki?" I said a very worried tone arose in my voice.
"Hajime this is where I need you to not worry or freak out. He's been like this for years. He was diagnosed with lymphoma and frontotemporal Dementia. Countless doctors told him he'd only have years to live. It's just getting worse. Sometimes he has episodes of it..." her words didn't fit together, they were like broken puzzle pieces.Years?
Doctors?
It's getting worse.....?
No this can't be true, he's fine right. I'll just see him later and everything will be fine. Will go on a afternoon walk like we always do.
He'll smile and touch my shoulder as we laugh about something ridiculous.
"Hajime?" Chiaki pulled me out of my train of thoughts. My heart and head ached in pain.
Thoughts kept swarming, bad thoughts.
"How long?" I said in a monotone voice.
"What?" She asked quietly.
"How long does he have?" I said again feeling the panic surface. I held back the sadness with the lump in my throat.
"Well, it's been longer than they've said." She shrugged.
"He's lucky."But he wasn't lucky No matter what his talent was. He had to deal with that all the time.
Why hadn't he told me?
I could have helped him...no I can help him.
I didn't even wait for Chiaki to say more I just started to walk.
"Hajime I'm sorry but I had to tell you!" I heard Chiaki yell from behind me. But I only had one thing I wanted to do.
I needed to go see Nagito.

I arrived at the tall building. Walking in and it was fairly nice. A board held pictures of people on it while a desk was in the front to tend for guests.
The air conditioning was on making me shiver, I didn't even know where he would be.I heard a bit of humming coming from a bigger hallway right next to the desk.
A purple haired nurse was humming while her eyes stayed close. She had a clip board that she was hugging to her chest.
She opened up her eyes and jumped slightly.
"Ahhh!" She shrieked falling to the floor.
"Oh Mikan! I'm so sorry." I helped her up picking up her clip board that had rattled on the floor.I saw the name printed across the top of the sheet.
"Nagito Komaeda"
I sighed, so he was here.
"Are y-you looking f-for N-Nagito?" She questioned shakily.
I nodded handing her the clip board back."He's i-in room 3." She pointed to the long hallway. I felt my eyes change to fear.
Mikan was about to step init another room.
"Hey Mikan! Wait." She turned around awaiting an answer.
"How bad is he?" She shook her head sadly.
"I-it's well, h-he, it seems to be pretty worse than the other times h-he described." She sighed a frown showing up on her face.I stared down the white hallway wondering if I should continue or not.
Mikan left into a smaller room.
Was he going to die? That's the thought that lingered the most.
The boy I began to fall in love with might die.
My tears welled up in my eyes, I wiped them away.
No one was around but I felt weak and scared.I breathed in deeply beginning to walk down the hallway. It was quiet, all I heard was the pitter patter of my feet down the tiled hallway.
I walked up to the door and it displayed a silver number 3.
Standing still I wondered if I should continue, But I needed to see him.
After standing for a long time, I finally pushed the white door open. I walked in as a familiar voice was heard.
"Chiaki I'm glad your back I was thinking that maybe..." Nagito trailed off and stared at me.The sun was coming in through the small window hitting his face lightly.
"Hajime..." my name came out in a whisper. His eyes shifted as he frowned holding himself.
I stood in shock.
He was in a hospital gown and was sitting comfortably under the blankets of the hospital bed. His skin looked even more sickly then it had before.
"Nagito?" I questioned still holding in the lump in my throat.
"Hi hajime." He said intertwining his own hands. My heart hurt as he smiled softly.
