I was lying in my room, just gazing at the ceiling, wings folded behind me, when I heard a knock on the door.

"Come in, its open" It was Harry.

"Hey."

"Hey."

"What are you doing?"

"Gazing at the ceiling, what else?"

He laughed. "Hey, sorry for abandoning you earlier. I wanted to see Ron and Hermione..."

"And forgot about your other friend."

"Yeah."

There was an awkward silence for a few minutes. I sighed, and said "Well you'd better take me to meet them then."

He brightened up. "Really?"

"Yeah, course."

"Sure!"

We went down the stairs. I wasn't sure whether to be nervous or not.

Harry went first, meeting Ron at a small table, near the bar. I followed, and heard Harry introduce me.

"Wow... You are sure she's not a Weasly in disguise?" said Ron.

Harry chuckled and said "I don't actually know... Jane, are you a Weasly in disguise?"

I smiled "I am not a Weasly in disguise. I would change my hair color if I was a Weasly in disguise. I just have red hair. You must be Ron." I offered my hand for him to shake, still smiling. "I'm Jane Draconis"

"Ron Weasly. Draconis sounds like a pure-blood name."

"Huh? Harry, I've forgotten that one again."

"Pure-blood means that both your parents were wizards."

I turned back to Ron, who had been watching this with confusion. "No idea."

"How could you not know?"

"I was left on an orphanage door, with a note witch said my name on. Ran away after a few years, lived on the street till Hagrid picked me up." I had run away because the helpers at the orphanage wanted to have my wings cut off, to make me 'normal'. I first shifted at 10, when I was cornered by a gang. They are still in hospital, as far as I know. Psychiatric ward. Being attacked by a young dragon can do that to you.

Ron was staring at me again. Harry had heard this before, and was looking at Ron with amusement.

Ron managed to stop staring at me, then asked Harry about some homework they had to do, about witch-burnings. I listened  for a few seconds, then Ron asked a question about Flame-freezing charms.

"Would'nt the muggles notice if the flames stopped moving? I mean, the muggles wern't that stupid..."

"No, the Flame-freezing charm only stops the flames from burning you. It feels like being tickled, I think."

The boys were staring at me. "What? I've been doing some studying, to catch up to third-year level."

"Blimey, your as bad as Hermione" Ron said.

"No," Harry corrected him,"She's almost as bad as Hermione. Hermione would have given us the whole history of it."

I smiled. "Well I could give you the whole history of it..."

"No!" Both boys yelped.

"We get enough history from Hermione..."
