THE SILENCE WAS FUCKING DEAFENING. Had Eden not already rendered herself numb by the death of her brother she would most certainly have gone mad. Surrounded by those who are family and those considered, Eden just knew that the stupidity was bound to start pouring out at any given moment.
A ridiculous plan to avenge John, when all they should currently be doing is mourning. Following Esme and their beautiful children out into the ominous unknown of open-air and unbridled joy and healing. But, instead, they're sitting in a circle pretending they all can even stand the sight of each other because John had been shot on his own doorstep.
Polly was off her fucking rocker - her son could die, granted but ... she wasn't the same after Tommy had essentially signed their lives away - and Arthur sat stoically beside his wife that Finn and Eden knew hated him. Hated his lifestyle. Hated his family and how they made the money she was quick to spend running them further away from the family that unconditionally loved their erratic brother. No matter how many times they faced the repercussions of his actions - see giving their alcoholic and abusive father money to start a casino. An impressive stunt that Eden had not forgotten about.
"...His son Luca has come to take revenge."
Revenge. Against them all. Fantastic. Being a Shelby was a permanent jinx - an unstoppable force against nature. Eden comforted herself by fiddling with a loose thread on her coat, ignoring the ridiculousness of the vendetta they'd found themselves in. Arthur and a fucking bullet were not going to help them at all, it was not going to save the rest of her brothers from a bullet.
"There's been some bad blood between us." That one was an understatement. And while Eden resented Polly for laughing while they are all supposed to be mourning ... if she had been as dazed as Polly she just might have too.
Finn and Eden hadn't heard from anyone other than John and Tommy for months after everything at Arrow House. Ada was too busy off pretending her maiden name was not Shelby, Linda bore Arthur a son and the cheeky thing seemed alright considering who his parents are. Polly lived a never-ending mirage that Michael couldn't snap her out of so they stopped trying.
So fuck her immediate family. No one gave two flying fucks that Eden and Finn almost got blown up by the train explosion. No one cared that Finn couldn't sleep most nights and ended up passing out in the lounge or sat at their kitchen table. No one cared that Eden felt so detached from half of her family she believed they couldn't remember her own birthday. They didn't care. So fuck them.
