She Paints Pictures of Blue Elephants
Scars decorate her wrists,
unintentional gifts from past lovers
unfinished Final notes litter her bed,
and fill her head
as tears stream with no one left
to wipe them awayShe now lays fetal, a chastised child,
in a bubble of her own making
on the once clear walls she paints
pictures of blue elephants
to remind her of the heartbreak
that lay outsideA shame she now enjoys this comfort
thinking this sarcophagus should be her forever
not knowing that this bubble,
this cocoon was made to shatter and I pray,
oh I pray that I am there to see her fly
when she finds the strength to stand again.
