I wake up to a knock on my door. I get up off my couch, I haven't assembled my bed yet, and walk to door. Before I open it, I look at Aurora on my chair. She sprawled out, her hair a disaster, and is snoring a little. Man, she's a mess. I look out of my peep hole, and see Colby. I quickly brush out my hair with my fingers. I take a deep breath, and open the door.
"Hey!" I say, trying to seem more awake.
"Hey!" He smiles his brightest smile.
"What's up?" I ask.
"Well I was just wondering..." he pauses, and looks over my shoulder at a messy, snoring Aurora. "Is she alive?"
"Probably. Haven't checked." I laugh.
"Well," He continues. "I was wondering if you wanted to maybe go out for lunch with me and some friends. Aurora can come too if she's still breathing."
"Oh yeah! That sounds great. Just give us a few minutes to clean up and we'll be right out."
"Okay. I'll be waiting downstairs in the lobby."
"See you soon." I wave, and shut the door.
I wake up Aurora, and tell her the plan. She gets up and we start getting ready. I grab one of my favorite outfits, and do a quick makeup look. When I walk out, I see Aurora ready to go. I wish I could be as stunning as her. She has such an amazing style.
We both compliment each other's outfits, and head out. When we get down stairs, we see Colby waiting for us.
I hear laughing, and I look up. I see Ainsley and Aurora walking towards me. Man, they look great.
"Wow. You guys look great." I tell them.
Ainsley smiles and looks down. I can tell she's self-conscious, but I don't know why. We start walking outside, and I walk up next to Ainsley.
"You ok? You seem uneasy." I ask her.
"Yeah. I'm fine. I just get nervous when meeting new people." I can tell she's only halfway telling the truth, but I leave it.
"Do you guys want to take my car?" I say to the both of them.
"Sure." Aurora replies.
We all get in the car. Aurora sits in the passenger and Ainsley in the back. Every now and then I glance back at her through the rear view mirror to see what she's doing. Most of the time she's just on her phone, but a few times I saw her looking from me to Aurora with a worried expression. We arrive at the restaurant, Tender Greens, and get out of the car. I decide to walk up next to Aurora to see if she knows what's up with Ainsley.
"Hey. Um.. I have a question." I whisper.
"What's up?" She asks quietly.
"Do you know what's up with Ainsley? She seems to be acting a little weird. I mean, I just met her so I'm not sure, but I just wanted to ask."
"Oh. Yeah. She gets like this some times. She's just a little self-conscious. She's just trying to impress you." She smirks.
"Oh. Okay." I try to hide my red cheeks by walking a little ahead of them. We walk into Tender Greens, and I scan the room for my friends.
As we are walking toward the restaurant, I see Colby walk up to Aurora. They start talking quietly, and my spirits drop. When we get closer to the door, I see him blushing. Great. I finally found someone I might like for the first time since Evan, and my best friend is going to steal him away. I honestly shouldn't even be surprised that she'd do this to me again.
I finally see the others, and I guide the girls over to their table. I greet all of them and begin to introduce everyone.
"So guys, this is Ainsley," I say, pointing to her. "And this is Aurora"
Everyone waves to the girls.
"Girls this is Sam, Kat, Tara, Jake, Corey, Devyn, Brennen, Kevin, Reggie, Cassie, and Aryia." I say, pointing to each one as I say their name.
We sit down and begin talking. Ainsley and Aurora tell the others a bunch of facts about themselves. It turns out Aurora is a model, and sort of forced Ainsley to move out here with her. Ainsley isn't talking much, but I guess she's just nervous.
After lunch, we all say our goodbye, and Ainsley, Aurora, and I get into my car. Our drive home is pretty silent. I just hope Ainsley likes all of my friends.
