Blue-Haired Mystery

          Let me tell you a story. One that is centered on a small town that is normally a very quiet and boring town, called Riverdale. I just moved here a week before school was scheduled to start. We moved into a house that was in a neighborhood that had some of the kids I was going to go to school with. I was not looking forward to starting a new school. I was, as most have described me, a "freak" or a "weirdo". It was not easy for me to fit in and I was prepared to spend the year being made fun of and spending most of my time by myself more than likely. Let me introduce myself before we get any farther into this story.

          My name is Skylar Jackson (picture above) and I am 15 years old. I am 5 foot 3 inches, with blue and green hair. I am a very shy person so I do not talk to people on a frequent basis. However, when a topic comes up that I have an interest in, then I can talk for hours until people get annoyed with me. It normally doesn't take very long for people to get annoyed with me. Tomorrow was going to be my first day at Riverdale High School and I was going to be given a tour by a girl named Betty Cooper. She is in the same grade as me and around the same age. Tomorrow will definitely be a long and stressful day to say the least. Now, time to start the story with the first day of my sophomore year at Riverdale High School. 

          I wake up to the sound of my alarm going off next to my bed. I didn't have it really loud as to not wake up my mother and father. They weren't the best in the mornings, especially my father. So, it was always in my best interest to stay as quiet as possible while getting up and doing anything. I walk out of my house and lock the door behind me. As I step onto the road to start my trek towards the school I notice a red headed boy had stopped to look at me. He was my age and lived right across the street from me. He smiled as he walked over to me "Hey! You must be the new girl. Uh, my name's Archie and I was wondering if you wanted to walk to school with me? I know it can probably be stressful to start a new school and everything. Having someone to show you around couldn't hurt, right?" He gave a small awkward chuckle.

          I give him a small smile as a thank you. "Hi, I'm Skylar. I guess it could help to have someone with me while I walk. I'm supposed to be given a tour later at school by a girl named Betty Cooper? Do you know her?" My nervousness made me a little more talkative than I would be normally.When I mentioned Betty's name his face lit up a bit as he told me about her. "Yeah I know Betty. She's one of my best friends actually. Betty just so happens to also be your next door neighbor. She'll be getting ready to leave for school to. Do you care if she walks with us? It would give you time to get to know her better before the tour at school." I nod my head slightly, feeling kind of better knowing that at least someone at this school is nice.

          We walked over to her house and he knocked on the door while I stayed back a little bit. "Don't worry, Betty is one of the nicest people I know around here. I don't think there is anyone that could compete with her niceness." He chuckles as he finishes. A young blonde who I'm assuming is Betty comes to the door yelling goodbye back to her mother. She turns toward Archie and I and I see her eyes light up when she sees me. "OH! You must be Skylar! I'm Betty, I'll be giving you and another new girl a tour today at school. It's so good to meet you!" She comes closer and shakes my hand. I just smile at her and we all start on towards the school, them leading the way mainly. Betty and Archie started telling me about a couple of the kids at school while we walked. They told me about Cheryl being queen bitch of the school, most of the football team being jerks aside from Archie and maybe one or two more.

          You could tell from a mile away that Betty had feelings for Archie, yet he was totally and undeniably oblivious to it. I could see the slight sadness and worry flash through her eyes when he would be talking to me and get all excited. However, I can already tell you that I do not have feelings for Archie in that way. I get more of a protective brother vibe off of him, if you know what I mean? It's okay if you don't, I don't make sense a lot of the time. We finally reach the school and Archie tells us he'll meet us later as he heads off to who knows where. Betty and I just shrug it off and start making our way towards the offices to get my schedule and wait on the other new girl to arrive. Betty tells me her name is Veronica Lodge and she is from New York.
