Prompt: confession letter.
Word count: 2,120
As Bakugou was about to leave his dorm for an early morning workout, he noticed a red envelope that hadn't been sealed properly on the floor by his door, the flap of paper that was supposed to be sealed just folded into the envelope itself.
He squinted suspiciously, bending down to pick up the letter before abandoning the bag that was thrown over his shoulder. Sitting down at his desk, the blonde inspected the envelope from all angles, trying to see if there was anything at all to be suspicious of.
There was nothing written anywhere. No name on the front, no way to even know if it was addressed to him. It wasn't recently his birthday or any national holiday, unless you count Halloween, meaning that there wasn't a specific situation that sprang to mind meaning that he'd be sent a card. In fact, it wasn't a card. What was inside was clearly just paper, as when Bakugou bent the envelope slightly, there was no resistance fighting his fingers.
Finally, he dug his fingers into the space between the flap and the rest of the envelope and flipped it up, eyes being met with a blank piece of white paper. He couldn't really think of a reason to stall getting it out and seeing just what the hell it was.
Originally, he had wondered if it could potentially be related to a villain's quirk or something of similar fashion, which was why he was so suspicious. But a villain wouldn't be able to get inside the UA dorms, nor would they only do this even if they could.
Without wasting another second of what was supposed to be a workout, he unfolded the paper.
His eyes were met with typed words in black, covering almost the whole page in the default font. At the very top of the page, he noticed his own name, at least confirming that the letter was meant for him.
It didn't look threatening, so he loosened his suspicion to try and just read what was there. He couldn't deny his lingering curiosity for any longer.
Bakugou,
I don't know if I'll actually go through with this or not. But if you're reading this, it means I did! Believe me, it wasn't easy to build up the courage, even though we're gonna be super manly heroes! I think I'd fight a villain and be less nervous.
Either way, I'm getting off track. I'm sure you're confused and suspicious so I'll try and ease that as soon as I can. I can't help but stall, even when I know that it's going to come out eventually anyway. So I'm just going to be blunt and honest about it.
I love you, and I really don't mean that in a friend way.
You probably won't believe me. I know that you'll be sceptical. Which is cool! That's one of the things I love about you. You make your own conclusions based on the information you're given, even if you're swayed by subconscious thoughts in the moment.
You have a really good heart, which is something not a lot of people know or see. Like the villains! Remember? Those cowards really thought they could deter you. Others doubted you too, thinking that you'd maybe fall into it and lose track, but I always knew!
You're gonna be the number one hero, and I'll be right behind ya the whole way! Of course, I'm gonna be a hero too, so we can work together. Maybe one day even have an agency together, or we could even work at the same one. I'd like that a lot.
I'm getting ahead of myself again! I could talk about the future forever, but that's just assuming too much, I think. We're only in our first year of high school, after all.
