CHAPTER 28

I'm sitting beside Eliot now as we watch the night sky from the rooftop of our university. We just sneaked inside because the classes are already over and it's already ten in the evening.

There's a long silence between the two of us. After their gig, we decided to take a walk and ended up being here.

Even when we're walking, we were quiet.

It's like that we are lost of words or we just don't know what to say. We don't know how to start, or know how to open up the topic.

"I've heard you had a fight with Ivory."

He looks angry and at the same I can see the gentleness to his eyes.

I can't put all the blame to Ivory, to be very honest.

She was just furious.

And I know to myself that I didn't use Eliot.

I love Eliot.

"I'm going to apologise to her tomorrow," his expression darkened to what I said. He looks irritated as his jaw clenched.

I don't know if Ivory deserves the apology but I don't want any conflict between the two of us. We are classmates and she is older than me. If she couldn't respect me, then, I was born to respect people. I'll give her the respect, hindi dahil deserving siya, kundi dahil pinalaki akong maayos ng magulang ko.

"I know she's the one who started the fight, Avery." He said in a bit husky tone, namamaos at parang nahihirapang magsalita. He's having a hard time right now, I know.

"I just want to know what's the reason..." He sighs.

"She said I was just using you..." my voice cracked.

"No, you're not..." namamaos niyang sabi.

Pumikit naman ako ng mariin.

"I'm the one who made a way to be closer to you. You're not using me, you don't." humigpit ang pagkakayakap niya sa akin.

"None of us is at fault for whatever issue our parents have. It's not our fault." nahihirapan niyang sabi.

"It will be hard for us, Avery. But trust me, I won't let go of you. Malalagpasan natin 'to." he said, full of assurance.

Tama ka, Eliot.

Mahihirapan talaga tayo.
