Chapter 45: Video-games are like life

Start from the beginning

"Alright, I'm back." He said as he walked to the coffee table to set the stuff down. I then walked over and sat on the chair that was to the right of the table. "Who knew that a few yen sushi would make both lunch and supper." He said as he opened the container again. I took a plate and my chopsticks. I picked up a few rolls and sat them on my plate. We then talked like usual as we ate.

"Hey, I'm curious; so since you guy's now know about my past, would it be alright if I learned about your guys's?" I asked since I was genuinely wondering about it; not because I wanted to know since they know about mine.

He swallowed the rest of the roll that was on his plate and said, "I don't see why not. It seems only right that you know about us since we know about you." He then looked up as he thought of where he should start. Once he found his place, he started his brief life story, "I grew up in nearly the same situation as you, except my mother was a hardened criminal while my father was an honored man in the villain community. I also have a sister who's seven years older than me. We both hated their work and the bad wrap it gave us when we were in school. When I was still in grade school, I made a vow that I was to never be like them and I tried to keep my distance. Not too long after that, my sister ran away. When my father found out while I was in my first year of middle school that I didn't want to join him, he started to beat me. Once it started happening on a regular basis, I left home and never returned. I left everything and everyone. I didn't want any trace of my past to be linked to me while I grew up and hold me back. Though it took a while, I was able to sustain myself by doing jobs here and there, I was able to do it. I was so ecstatic when I found out that I was accepted to UA." He then started to smile as he said, "The only downfall was that I met that dumb idiot. He attached himself to me and never left, even after learning about my past which made everyone keep their distance out of fear. He already had friends and at one point he introduced me to them and they too then became my friends. They still are today. Also, as soon as I graduated I reconnected with my sister. She changed a lot, but she said that I didn't change at all."

I started to smile a small smile as I said, "A good outcome."

"As with yours." He said. I nodded my head.

I then said, "I'll wait to ask Yamada until a week or so." He nodded his head in agreement. Not too long later we finished off the rest of what little sushi was left. When we finished I asked, "Ready to play video-games now?"

He sat his plate on top of mine as he said, "Yep; you can choose the game by the way."

I then walked over to the entertainment center and put Mario Kart into the Wii and got the controllers ready. As I walked back to hand him a controller I started to explain what we were going to do.

"So, we are going to play Mario Kart. It's a racing game. The controls for the game are simple: press 2 to drive forward, use the up button on the + pad and to turn you just tilt the controller as if you were driving a normal car...oh, I almost forgot, hold the controller like this..." I then held my controller to show him how it's supposed to be held.

When we chose our players and their vehicles, we started the round. Since I played every single map there is, not too toot my own horn or anything, but I'm pretty good at them all...except rainbow road, fuck that one, we won't talk about that one. Anyway, pretty much as soon as we started, I was in first while Aizawa was in 12th.

"How are you in first!? I can't get out of last place!" He asked slightly angered yet still having fun.

I laughed as I said, "I don't know; but the race isn't over...for you yet, I just finished first."

"How!" He said as it showed 'finished' on his half of the screen even though he didn't cross the finish line.

We then went on and when it got to the third race out of the circuit, he had gotten a little better. He finished fifth while I was still first. The fourth was a close call.

"I see you! I'm going to pass you! I'll win this time!" he said since he was pretty positive that he was going to win first this round.

I then said, "No you won't! You're so slow, you won't pass me!"

He then made an excuse, "You have to drive safe to get somewhere; you learn that when you drive for many years. Slow and steady wins the race too."

"Pfft! Sure, you sound like an old man teaching me how to drive. Well, you'll never pass me, old man!" I said not willing to give up my position.

Jokingly, he sounded offended, "Old man!? I'm for sure going to teach you a lesson on how not to drive."

He then hit me with a green shell and passed me. Until we reached the finish line, we kept on passing one another. In the end, I was the one to pass him and take first while he was a too close for comfort second.

"I'll win next time." He said as he laid the controller on the table.

I then asked, "Another round?"

He then stood up and took our garbage and dishes from our supper, "I better not. I have to quickly finish up a report and contend with Zashi when he wakes up." He then looked around, "Hey, where's Melody?"

I too stood up and looked for her. Since she's so small I didn't notice her at first, but she was sleeping on my bean bag chair. I pointed it out where she was sleeping to Aizawa, he just nodded his head since he now saw where she was. He then started to chuckle out of nowhere.

"What's so funny?" I asked.

He calmed down after a few seconds and said with a smile, "Oh it's nothing; it's just that when you called me 'old man' that reminded me of my nephew." I reciprocated the smile, except mine was smaller. He then added, "Actually, you may know him. He's in 1-B; his name's Shinso."

"Oh, yeah, I know him. Wow, I didn't know you two were related...then again, the only time that I have seen him was at the festival." I said.

Just before he walked out with the stuff that he was going to bring to the kitchen, he said, "I think that you two would get along." He took a step then stopped, "Actually, now that I think of it, he may be coming over soon since he usually stops by once, or twice...or four times a month. He hasn't stopped by yet so that's why I think he'll be over soon. Well then, I'm off to the kitchen. You have a report too, you should start it since it's one of your bigger ones, right? It's the one that's about Stain right? That one may take some time since it's a bigger case."

"Yeah, you're right. I'll get started on that at once. Good luck with the one you have to finish up." I said before I started for the spiral staircase. He just nodded his head then left for the kitchen.

I worked on the Stain report until I got too tired and went to bed. I let Melody roam around my room all night since my door was closed. At one point in the night I woke up cause she was on my bed. I was surprised that she made it up the spiral staircase, especially for how small she is. Once she got comfy on by bed, I fell asleep again.
