January 11th, Year 1

A young boy of 12 was sitting in a classroom with his head on his desk. Every other child around the boy had pure white, feathered wings, even the teacher had them. The teacher slammed his hand on the boy's desk and his head shot up, blinking his tired eyes.

Teacher:I hope you weren't sleeping through the lesson, young man.
Teacher:Huh...n-no, no I was just resting my head.
Teacher:Then what were we discussing?
Teacher:Uhhh...um-
Teacher:Kane, what was today's lesson about?
Kane:I-It was uh...Abel and Cain. Genesis 4:1.
Teacher:Oh...you actually were listening?
Kane:Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?
Teacher:Well uh...j-just keep your head up, okay.
Kane:*nods*

The teacher continued his lecture and Kane leaned back at his seat, rubbing his eyes to not look so exhausted. He looked around and noticed a lot of the other students glaring at him.

Kane:(Oh don't give me those glares. I get enough of them already.)
Kid:*whispers*Nice one, dumbass.
Kane:Piss off. I got it right.
Teacher:Quiet, Kane. I'll send you to detention if I have to.
Kane:...*sighs*Sorry
Kid 2:*whispers*Yeah, Kane. Don't wanna get in trouble with the teacher.

After a while the class ended and kids started walking to the front doors to leave. Kane ran towards the door and someone near the entrance stuck his leg out, tripping Kane and making him fall face first into the door. Everyone laughed and stepped over him to leave while Kane sat up and rubbed his head.

Kane:*groans*That fucking hurt.
???:You shouldn't be running then, dumbass.
Kane:Very funny, Zeke
Ezekiel:It's Ezekiel, and you know it.
Kane:And my name is Kane, but strangely I never hear you say it.
Ezekiel:Because I don't really care, duh. Nobody does
Kane:Yet you still have to tolerate me, which brings me more than enough joy.
Ezekiel:...Whatever, I don't have time for you. See ya, freak.

Ezekiel flew off and Kane stood up, dusting off his shirt. He sighed and noticed a girl with blonde hair staring at him from behind a corner.

Kane:What, you gonna laugh too? Go ahead...not like I give a shit anymore. I'm used to it.

The girl slowly walked over to Kane, her eyes darting around and fidgeting with her fingers. She got to the front door then stared at Kane again, her eyes dull and almost void of life upon closer inspection.

Kane:(What's with this girl? She looks like a nervous wreck...and her eyes creep me out.)
???:A-Are you...okay?
Kane:Mostly, just a small headache now...and maybe a cracked nose.
???:Do you need help?
Kane:Nah, I'll heal just fine...*mumbles*
I've had worse ones .
???:...T-They were mean.
Kane:...Huh?
???:E-Ezekiel, he was...he was mean... t-to you.

Kane opened his mouth to respond and the girl ran out the door. He walked out as well and scratched his head.

Kane:What a weird girl. Why was she so concerned about Zeke being an ass... Welp, time to head home.

Kane walked off and after around fifteen minutes he reached a house surrounded by some trees, the home a soft beige tone with black shingles. He walked in and threw his bookbag onto a couch before walking upstairs and knocking on a closed door. A woman with black wings and long black hair answered and Kane threw himself onto the bed inside.

???:Welcome home, kiddo.
Kane:Hey, Claire.
Claire:How was school?
Kane:Still the school pariah, so I'm sure you can guess.
Claire:...I'm sorry, kiddo.
Kane:You didn't do anything. I just don't get what I did to deserve all this crap.
Claire:You didn't do anything...but I have to ask, did you beat up another kid again?
Kane:No, Zeke tripped me and I fell into a door.
Claire:What?! That seraphite has been nothing but rude to you for years now.
Kane:Eh, I don't mind too much. At least he's consistent.
Claire:You've been nothing but innocent...Well, mostly.
Kane:Yeaaah, I'll admit I've beaten up a few angels...b-but only because they started it.
Claire:That I can understand.
Kane:...But there was this girl that was staring at me. She was weirdly concerned about Zeke tripping me.
Claire:Concerned how?
Kane:She just said he was mean and asked if I was okay...Not gonna lie, it was kinda nice, but still pretty weird.
Claire:How is that weird? That was sweet of her.
Kane:She's one of those Puritan girls. I've seen her before. Plus she's always shy and never talks, so why would she care about the local "devil child?"
Claire:Maybe she doesn't believe the others.
Kane:I guess, but I don't really buy it.
Claire:...So, want me to make something?
Kane:I'd like some food.
Claire:Alright. Let's head downstairs then, and maybe we can watch a movie later.
Kane:I'd like that too.

March 20th

Kane's POV
I was sitting down behind the bleachers in the gym and saw a teacher walk in. She looked around and I slowly crept out through a nearby door, really not wanting to get caught skipping class. I ran into the bathroom and locked myself in a stall, hearing the teacher calling for me and sighing.

???:Kane, are you in there?
Kane:Y-Yeah, I'm*coughs*fine.
???:You didn't show up for class. What's going on?
Kane:I-I uh...might have food poisoning from my breakfast.
???:Huh?..I'll excuse it this time, just go to the nurse after you're done uh...ya know.
Kane:*groans*...Got it.

I heard the teacher walk off and turned around to open the stall when I heard someone walk in. I pulled my legs to my chest and stayed quiet.
