Elena sat on the bank throwing rocks into the fast moving river. She thought about everything that had happened recently. Her thoughts lingered on Jon. The only stark to grieve on his own. Slowly she stood and Robb watched her. He knew what she was doing before she did and smiled.
"I'll guess you're going to be on your way soon Lannister?" He asks and she smiles and wanders over to the young man she had grown to admire. Lady Stark walked over and handed Elena a letter. She read over Jon's words and felt it warm her heart more than any other soup she could of eaten. Robb smiled and his mother smiled back.
"Go!" Robb laughs and Elena throws her arms around the young wolf and his mother.
"I'll never be able to pay you back for everything, be ever so careful at that wedding please?" She asks and the pair nod. She walked over to her brothers cage and he stared at her as she unlocked the cage.
"I'm riding north, if you co operate with them they'll treat you well Jamie!" She begs and he spits at the ground in front of her.
"Traitor! You're no Lannister Elena!" He snaps and she realised why he was Cersies twin. She gently wrapped her arms around her imprisoned brother and leaned up to kiss his cheek.
"I'm sorry you're in this position," She sincerely apologises before fastening her cloak around her shoulders and mounting her horse.Jon watched as the snow fell at Castle Black. He was riding north of the wall soon enough and that excited him. He would be able to find his uncle Benjen. He'd be able to take his mind off of his grief and his losses, he could stop thinking about the youngest Lannister who had captured his thoughts and kept them hostage. His only wish would be to see her or to talk to her before he left. To see whether she meant those words she wrote to him.
Elena slowly tied her horse up outside the inn at the crossroads. Entering the inn she was bombarded by noise and chatter with an overbearing stench of alcohol. Heading towards the bar she caught an old familiar face sitting waiting for his drink.
"Sandor," She announces herself and he turned and smiled at the young cub. He had pondered her whereabouts after reports of her siding with the Starks. Slowly she slid over his flask full of wine from the Starks camp. He smiled and rolled his eyes as he watched the young girl.
"And where would a little cub be going on her own?" He asks curious as to her plans.
"As far north as north goes!" She smiles back and he noticed the men at the bar staring at the young girl. She noticed him too and felt her face crease with recognition.
"Who is that?" She asked and Sandor laughed.
"Petyr Baelish, stay as far away from him as you can he's trouble!" Sandor warned the young girl and she nodded as the barman handed her her own flask back. The lion clasp shone gold in the dying sunlight and she prepared to go back to the chilly weather.
"Riding through the night?" The hound asked and she nodded once. Even though it scared her she just wanted to comfort Jon. He tapped her shoulder and walked to the back of the bar.Elena untied her horse and led him over to the water and food troughs. The wind flicked her hair over her shoulder and she realised just how fierce the winter would be. Coughing behind her alerted her to someone else's presence and she turned with her hand on her sword.
"Lannister?" Lord Baelish asked and she felt her face crease. The wind whipped her hair behind her and he took in how much she looked like Cersie.
"Younger and just as beautiful, you'll be married off soon!" He notes and she shook her head vigorously.
"Of course so will your niece!" He answered and her head snapped up.
"What?" She asked and he laughed. The rain was about to start pouring and he stared at her.
"Choose wisely My lady!" He snaps and walks back inside as the hound walked out. Elena felt her heart slow as she thought of her beautiful niece being sold off like a breeding cow.
"You heard about your niece?" He asked and she nodded and sighed. Her body shivered against the cold and she felt a fear she had never felt before. Slowly her vision faded and she felt herself standing at the wedding she should of attended.Robb watched in horror as his mother's throat was slit. His wife was carrying his unborn child and she lay bleeding out. He felt a blade enter his body and kneeled next to his wife reaching for her. Everywhere around him the Stark men were being slaughtered.
"The Lannister's send their regards," Walder Frey spits and Elena desperately tries to fight back but realised she wasn't exactly there. The hound sat Elena up and passed her some wine. It stung her throat as she gasped repeatedly trying to hold back her tears and calm herself down.
"The Starks their going to die I have to see Jon!" She snapped. The wind whipped her hair and he sighed staring at the young girl.
"Well you better get going," He offers and she nods and sighs.Jon mounted his horse and gave a little kick ready to leave and go north of the wall. The snow was falling thick and he watched as it covered him almost immediately.
"You ever been cold boy?" Alistair asked him and he stared at him disliking the man more and more.
"Yes," Jon answers and Alistair shakes his head and opens his mouth to speak. A voice carried on the air alerts everyone to the presence of someone at the gate ready to come up.
"Jon?" Elena calls and he turns and sees the youngest Lannister just as she had promised. He feels his heart skip a beat at her wet and cold form. Her hair dripping down her cloak and her hands red raw. Snow covering her body. Quicker than ever they both jumped off their horses and ran to eachother embracing in the middle. All the men stared as she started sobbing. Jon wiped her tears and maester Aemon appeared to take them both upstairs."Jon we've just received the news that Robb and Catlyn have been slaughtered," He states and the pair state at each other before Jon realised that she had already known.
"You came here because you saw it?" He asked and she nodded once. Her hair started to dry in unruly ringlets around her face and he noticed the cold kept her nose and cheeks a rosy pink.
"Thank you!" He states and she slowly reaches for his hand. Intertwining fingers and the skin to skin contact created a warm feeling inside both of them. Jon brought her hand to his lips and he smiled as she let out a small giggle.
"Now if you'll join me we can drink to bury our sorrows?" He offers and she nods and tops up her own drink.
