[two days later]

If I had a list of the five most uncomfortable days of my life, today would be number one.

I was sitting in a car with my dad and brothers. Alone.

What the hell.

Mom, as I suspected, refused to come in dropping me to the stupid rehab center. Dad had volunteered, and Nathan and Nicolas decided to tag along.

Therefore, I was stuck in probably the most uncomfortable few hours in my life.

Hell.

The three guys in the car were silent, and the slow hum of the radio wasn't enough to release the tension in the small space. My phone buzzed, and I checked it, a small smile gracing my lips.

It was Adrian.

i know today's probably going to be the hardest days of your life, but just remember that i'm here to talk (or send memes) if you need

I bit my lip, typing out a proper response.

i think sitting in a car w my dad and bros is worse tbh

His reply was immediate.

glad to know you're still joking around :)

but seriously, nev, i'm here

thanks, adrian. i appreciate that a lot

and i'll definitely need some of those memes to stay sane lol

"Who're you textin'?"

I looked up, startled, to find Nathan staring at me.

Sending Adrian a quick 'text you later,' I locked my phone and tucked it into my hoodie pocket.

"A friend."

He raised his eyes, snorting. "Since when did you have friends?"

"Nate!" Dad hissed from the front, and Nicolas turned around to glare at him.

Wow. They cared at least that much.

"As a matter of fact, I do." I kept my voice even and steady.

"Is it that boy who kept visiting you?" Dad asked, glancing at me through the rear-view mirror. There was a tone in his voice that I was all too costumed to.

"I don't like his hair," Nathan muttered.

Oh no.

Oh hell no.

"Excuse me?" I growled, "Now, you play overprotective dad and older brothers? Now?"

They shifted uncomfortably.
