"Hey, you little...uh..."
Cyrus's eyes shinned in the pale white room as he waited for his sister to respond with a comeback and continue her sentence.
"You little what?"
"You little...crumb!"
"Crumb? You're dumb aren't you."
Cyrus rubbed his hands with pleasure while cackling softly. "Cyrus, please be nice to your sister. She just wants to play sweetie. I'm sure."
There stood a tall and slender figure wearing a ragged light blue dress down to the knees. Meanwhile in her hands stay a fresh neatly clean stack of clothes. Dirty blonde hair silky to the touch that hang down to the shoulders ready to be put up in a tie.
"Yeah, but what. The dog down the street ate our ball. I have nothing other than her stupid dolls."
"They aren't stupid y'know"
"Yes they are, Jacki. Suck it up."
"Look, if you don't want to play with your sister and you don't wanna play with your brother we'll do this. Shut up, and go away to your rooms."
My mother took no crap. She never once allowed anyone to step over her and no matter what she was always brutally honest. I can't believe she's my mother sometimes.
"Fine!" Jacki screamed as she slammed the door on her out. Cyrus could hear the door slowly creek afterwards like it was to beak on its own. Of course Cyrus never followed along with the whole room thing. He stayed in the living room on the plaid green couch. His mother turned to Him. He figured his mother sent Jacki to her room because she favors him. An acquired thought and maybe morbidly bitter but was a promising thought to have. Considering Jacki was always causing a ruckus. As his mother slaved away over the unfolded clothes they both heard a loud bang to the door.
"Sounds like someone's knocking. Better be good reason to there stop me." His mother said in an agitated voice. She slowly made her way to the front door upon her dress swaying in a sassy manner and heals hitting the floor with force.
"Hello Mrs. Burns. How are you?..."
"No, Lewis. I do not want to go on a date with you or come visit before church Sunday."
Lewis was an off fella. He was at least 5'3 and pudgy with red rose cheeks. His face was smooth and clean. Looked like it's been washed all the time. Cyrus liked Lewis and wishes that'd be his father. His father passed away when Cyrus was only 6 and while Jacki was 3.  Though he may have passed Mrs. Burns still rather be brought up as if she's still married and called Mrs instead. "It keeps the family alive" she says. "No Mrs. Burns. I was told to come around neighbor to neighbor you see. I'm looking for a home for some puppies. We have three black'n white ones and one hazel. Prissy lil thang."
"Are they free?"
"Why yes Mrs. Burns. Certainly."
Mrs. Burns turned to Cyrus. The words that came outta her mouth was the most beautiful thing to happen.
"Do you want a little friend, Cyrus?"
"You-you mean a dog?"
Cyrus smiles so much he felt as if he was burning away at the face.
"Choose one. What color?"
"I want the hazel! Oh yes, the hazel!"
Cyrus jumped around with his fists clenched tightly.
"Where can we pick up this here puppy?"
"Uhh, at my house Mrs. Burns. Cyrus can come get'em later today actually. I have a a lead for him when you go an walk the lil fella. Makes the trip easier."
