So I wrote this for school a while back and decided to post it, I'm no where near a good poet, just fair warning! However, I would greatly appreciate your comments:) Personally, poetry is more personal and complicated than story telling, so I give props to all you poets!

*****************************

Fiery blazes engulf the whole town.

The smoke like a black cloak,

smothering life, dreams, and hope.

The presence of death and sorrow

is thick in the air causing a state of despair.

Ash and burning embers cover the streets

that were once full of merriment and life.

Kids frolicking and mothers taking a stroll

now had children clinging to their mothers,

as the mothers weep long mournful cries.

Amongst the tragedy and depression,

lies a flower in the rubble.

The flower stands as a witness to all.

It watches the scene before it,

as a symbol of hope and defiance.
