Chapter 3: Picking and Choosing

I cant wrap my head around of what the prince asked me to do.

A 'suitable wife'.

Every girl here, except for my friends were so dumb, and deceived from the truth.

Then again, I figured rounding up about 20 girls wouldn't be so hard.

Guess what? I was right.

The next morning, I went to three locations, The palace tailors, The ballroom, and the banquet hall. I told them each the exact same statement, and they all replied with squeals of joy.

I rolled my eyes as I walked up the stairs to Conner's room.

"I need you to make a big entrance."

"What do you want me to do? Back flips and handstands?"

He said sarcastically, lying on his bed, still in his pajamas. Lazy ass.

" No stupid, just arrive on your horse, no, actually, I'm going to make you arrive on Oberon."

" Ha ha, NO WAY! That horse is freaking loony!"

"Ride on my horse or have no wife."

"Your such a pain in the ass!"

"Thank you."

"That wasn't a compliment."

"I'm aware."

"Fine. I'll ride your horse, but you owe me big time!"

"It's a deal. Now get dresses, we have to go downstairs."

We walked out of his room and into the palace stables, with Connor, bragging as usual.

" Will you shut up?" I muttered

"Excuse me?"

"Nothing."

We kept walking until we reached Oberon's stall.

"Go get his tack while I start grooming." I instructed.

"No, get it yourself."

"Who the hell do you think you're talking to?"

"I'm royalty, I can speak to you, or anyone else however I like. Besides, I don't know what his tack looks like anyways." Playing dumb I observe, once again.

" IT HAS HIS NAME PRINTED ON IT! OR CAN YOU NOT READ, LIKE AN ILLITERATE FOOL!?!?!?!" I yelled, very loudly, it even made Oberon shake.

Connor's face turned as white as snow, as he turned on his heel to retrieve it.

My God, why did I agree to this? I now regret it...

I became so overwhelmed with anger, that I put my head in my hands and leaned on Oberon for support . I sighed heavily.

"Jube Jube, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to -"

"Just, do what you have to do" I told him, exasperated.

I went to go sit at the corner of the stall. I sat there, and rubbed my temples until he was ready.

Conner P.O.V

"I'm ready" I whispered quietly.

She got up without a sound, and walked me out of the barn.

As we approached the courtyard, I could see about 20 girls, scattered, and screaming.

" Don't let your head get to big" She warned, teasingly, and she gave me the reins.

Juno walked over to the swarm of girls, and told them something that made them stand in a perfectly straight line, in front of a table, that I have never noticed before.
