"I-I'm sorry...what?" You could barely choke out the words.
"I mean I'd be a bit insulted if you said no, but I'll live." He put his hands up.
"Use your words." He smirked.
But you didn't use your words, you ran up and wrapped your arms around him in a tight hug instead. He was blown back for a second, but he hugged you with a smile after only a moment.
"Thank you, Tony." You broke the hug and couldn't wipe the smile off your face. Your eyes were wide with shock still and you didn't know what else to say.
"So, I'll take that as a yes?"
"Y-yes, holy shit, yes." You breathed.
"Do you know what this will mean?" He raised his eyebrows. He didn't want to get his hopes up until you knew about the entire situation and still wanted in.
"I'll be Y/n Stark?"
"That, but also your parents are living and you're under eighteen so lawyers will be contacting them. All legal ties will be cut with your family." He put his hands in his pockets and looked down.
Truth is, Tony would be crushed if you didn't want this. In the short time he's known you, he's grown to see you as his daughter.
Pepper pointed this out the other night too.
"Tony, come to bed, that can wait until the morning." She patted the spot next to her, looking over at Tony who was pacing the room, trying to find out whether or not this would all work. He was supposed to hear from one of the lawyers by now and he was getting worried.
"What if she doesn't want this? Or what if her parents refuse? Did I screw everything up again?" He looked at her, concern and anxiety written all over his face.
"I know this is big," He sat on the bed, back to her and she rubbed his shoulders, "But that girl loves you and she loves everyone here." She started to rub his back comfortingly, "She's afraid to go home and her parents don't want her there. This will all work out."
"Pep, what if this all falls apart and it forces her back home or into foster care?"
"If anyone can help her, it's you."
"I think she helps me more than I help her." He scoffed with a smile.
"Yeah, that's true." She nodded and they both laughed.
"I don't know why it's bothering me so much. Not knowing if this'll work or not." He shook his head and ran a hand through his hair.
"Because she's already your daughter."
"What makes you think that?" He smirked.
"Well, I see you with her and when you talk about her, it's like she was always the missing piece. She lights up your life."
"You're saying I'm getting soft with my age?" He teased.
"I'm saying her, and Peter are more your kids than you'd like to admit. I know Peter has May, but he didn't have a dad until you." She shrugged.
"Maybe you're right."
~End of Flashback~
"I never had parents, it was only me and my brother."
"Well, how would you like some?" He smiled softly.
"Yeah, I suppose that'd be cool." You shrugged with a smirk, "Not like I couldn't take care of myself though."
