"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" he smiled then looked at me and took my ring off. My hair and eyes turned white and my black clothes were replaced with a long and flowing white dress. Then he looked down at the tattoo on my heel and smiled in approval.

"I finally found you." He said. Since when can adlets talk?! Man how long have I been gone from that horrible lab?

My eyes were wide with fear and I turned back around desperate to get away. I was panicking because I knew he was going to try and take me back, since he hasn't killed me. I started hitting him and kicking him, but it was no good. I looked back to see David just now recovering from the light. I really don't want to do this, but it's better than going back to the lab.

"David! Help!" I screamed. He looked up and saw me, and then his eyes went wide. They seemed as though they were full of, both, concern and fear. He ran towards me and tried to grab onto me, but the adlet knocked him to the ground twenty feet away. David quickly got up then stood to face the adlet.

"Let her go." David's words were very threatening that if I might have been scared if I was the adlet. The adlet wasn't affected by the sound of David's words though, just smiled.

"Or what you stupid human?" the adlet said in a mocking tone. Then he put his mouth close to my face while bearing his teeth at me. I tried to get free, but his arms were too tight around my waist and arms. David looked at me then back at the adlet then down at his ring. He took his ring off and put it in his pocket.

Right before my eyes I watched as his hair and eyes turned white and his black t-shirt and jeans were replaced with a white shirt and pants. He looked at the adlet and smiled.

"I'm not a human." David said, and then with amazing speed he knocked the adlet to the ground and grabbed me out of his arms. Then he held me like a little girl while he climbed up a tall tree and set me down.

"Are you alright?" he asked. I nodded then he got his ring out and stuck it on my finger. My white hair was back to brown; my white eyes were back to a deep blue, and my white dress was back to my black hoodie and pants.

David climbed back down, looking ready to fight the adlet. The adlet looked just as ready, after rubbing his chin where David kicked him.

"Looks like a got another one to turn in. that means double reward for me." He smiled and got down on all fours. David cracked his knuckles and neck. Then he jumped and landed a drop kick to the adlet's chest. The adlet stepped back to regain himself, then just as David was about to do it again, the adlet grabbed David's leg while he was in midair and threw him into a tree. I swear I could hear a crack as David hit the tree.

David cried out in pain and did his best to stand up. The thing was he was hunched over and had his hand on his back, where he hit the tree, making himself look like an old person with a back ache.

"David!" I yelled. Wait, why was I worried about him? I didn't forget how rude he was to me back at the house, but then again he saved me and he's risking his life right now to protect me. I can't just sit up here and watch him get hurt.

I took the ring off and put it in my pocket for safe keeping then climbed down and ran over to David so I was standing in front of him.

"Get back in the tree." David said and I could tell he was trying not to shout in pain again. If he thinks I am going back up in that tree and leaving him down here, then he is crazier than he seems.

"No I'm not leaving you David!" I was the only thing that stood between him and the adlet. There was no way I was going to let that adlet hurt David. The adlet looked at me and laugh.

"There's no way your going to defeat me you little brat." He said as he laughed even more. I closed my eyes and focused on my power. I called the trees roots and they tangled the adlet just like they did to David only this time I made them squeeze the adlet until he could barely breathe. The adlet tried to struggle, but that only made it worse.

"You will pay for this." The adlet choked out. I looked at him and shook my head.

"No I won't." then I returned the roots underground, taking the adlet with them. I collapsed to the ground beside David, who was sitting on the ground still in pain.

"What happened to your back?" I asked him.

"It's fine, it just hurts a bit." he said. I touched his back with the tip of my finger tips and he jerked. "I'm sorry." I said. Even though my healing powers aren't that strong, I have to try and help him.

I closed my eyes and gently put my hand on his back. He flinched, but didn't pull away. I focused all of my power to healing his back. I felt my energy going to my hand and starting to heal him. This is the strongest my healing power has ever worked because I could tell that David's back was almost healed.

I kept healing him until I could no longer heal him. I took my hand off his back and laid my head against a tree. I was so weak that I could barely keep my eyes open. I looked at David and saw him touch his back in disbelief. Then he turned around and looked at me.

"Is that one of your abilities?" he asked. I nodded in response because I was too weak to even talk. Then he put his hand on my forehead as if to feel if I had a fever or not. His hand was so cool against my forehead and it felt really good. When he took his hand away, I reached my hand up and grabbed his hand, and then I put it back on my forehead. He smiled and I smiled back. Then I closed my eyes and felt the coolness of his hand.

Then I remembered that the adlet had my ring when I made the roots pull him underground to die. I reached in my pocket and pulled out David's ring, and then I took his hand and put the ring back on his finger so he wouldn't have to be all white anymore.

"Where's your ring?" he asked. I opened my eyes and turned my head to the spot where the adlet disappeared into the ground. He stood up and went over to the spot, and then he looked around.

About five minutes later he bent down and picked up my ring. Then he walked over and put it on my finger, but my body didn't return to my disguise. David looked confused. He tried taking my ring off and putting it back on my finger, but still nothing.

"Why isn't your ring working?" David asked me. I shrugged telling him that I didn't know. Then it hit me, I need white magic to be able to disguise myself, but I just used all of my magic on David. So I won't be able to disguise myself until I rest and recover.

David seemed to come to the same conclusion because he carefully picked me up and started walking back towards the house. I laid my head on his shoulder.

"You can go to sleep. You need to rest anyway." David said. Well, I was too tired to fight with him. So, for the first time, I listened to him. I closed my eyes and slowly fell asleep.
