Chapter 2 The Reminder
After finishing up my chores, I walked over to the pond, just to sit and think. It came to mind that the Grand Ball took place in three weeks.
I couldn't believe it, I had to chose a husband in three weeks.
It wasn't an option for a Lady in Waiting to stay single.
Just thinking about it was overwhelming, because I knew that I wouldn't be truly happy with my decision.
I lay down on the beautiful green grass, trying to forget about my problems, and drifted into a pleasant sleep.
Prince Connor P.O.V
"Hey Mitch, have you seen Janessa?" I asked my good friend.
"Nope, sorry Conner, I haven't seen her since the tourney earlier today"
I searched both ends and all levels of the palace, including the courtyard, she was no where to be found. I ran into the stables, opened the doors, and called her name.
Did I really hurt her that bad? I mean, I was just joking. I didn't know that she would take it so literally and run off like that. I ran to my mare, Cassie, opened her stall, tacked her up, and almost flew out of the castle grounds.
I decided not to venture into town, to avoid any unnessacery attention, so instead, I went to the pond to get my act together, and get over any anxiety and worry.
As I walked closer and saw a body laying there. I quickly dismounted and ran over, and as I kneeled down beside the body, I realized it was Juno.
"Oh my God" my hands started to shake, I wasn't good with dealing with anxiety or panic.
Without thinking, I grabbed her shoulders and shook her.
"Juno! JUNO! ARE YOU OK?!?!" I yelled.
She slowly opened her eyes, looked up at me and screamed.
Which caused me to scream.
"Juno, I'm so sorry, I'll never poke fun at you again, just please don't run away, I'll never forgive myself if you do."
She looked at me fora moment, puzzled, then she burst out into laughter.
"You... stupid... prince" she said in between giggles. "I wasn't running away, what you said didn't affect me at all! I took a walk here and accidentally fell asleep!"
God, I feel incredibly stupid.
Juno got up, and started walking back toward the palace.
"By the way, the look on your face was absolutely PRICELESS!"
With that, she continued walking.
While I stood there like a complete idiot.
"Wait, Jube Jube!"
"Ugh, can you STOP calling me that?!?!" she screamed.
"Uh, sorry, but wait." I can't believe that I was actually apologizing to her, but I really needed all the help I could get.
"What do you want?"
"Walk back with me."Ok..." she agreed, with a confused look.
"I never thought I would say this, but I need your help."
"Finding a suitable wife"
"Pftt... good luck"
"Why should I?" Now she was going to question me. Great.
"Because I can't let the kingdom down with my rotten decision making." I admitted.
"Yeah, fine, I guess I'll help, but its for the kingdom, not you."
"Meet me in the courtyard tomorrow afternoon." she instructed me before she walked off.
