Judy swirled the glass of wine in her hand for dull amusement. Her face was just as red as the liquid. She adjusted her position in the bathtub, so that the water reached her chin. Her locks of black floated around on the surface of the water, curious like her.
'Why?' She thought.
'Why would he do something so stupid?'
She thought back to earlier that day, at work. The haze grew on her face as she remembered.
————
It should've been so simple. Especially for Judy. Maybe, she was just feeling cocky, today.
The directions were 'Take out Vince Lestrade and his lackeys.' Things were going good, until guns went ablaze.
Judy and Brian had the targets location confirmed. He was located on the roof of an abandoned building, with about 5 other people. The two assassins were on the roof across from Lestrade. Judy drew her gun from the holster of here pants to go for the kill. Right as her finger grazed the trigger one of Lestrade's lackeys opened fire. Soon, they all did.
One bullet was perfectly aimed. It would've gone through her heart, and there would be no coming back from that. Out of nowhere, a firm grasp on her arm threw her to the side. She grunted as she fell to the ground.
"Brian, what the hell?!"
He payed her no mind, as he took out the five men. Vince got away.
After a mission, whether it be successful or not, they were required to leave the site within 5 hours of entrance. They did just that.
On the ride home, Brian was driving, he reprimanded her for her recklessness. Judy tuned him out, and looked at the passing trees beside her. She tuned back in, when she knew the were near her drop off location.
"Jude, what were you thinking?! You - you could've died! One of those bullets would've killed you."
"That doesn't give you the right to just, put yourself in danger!" She retorted, still not looking at him.
"What I choose to do with myself is my decision, Brian. If I have to do something to complete my mission, I will do it. Since you interfered, the target got away!"
"Well, I couldn't let you, just, die! The company needs you, I need you! Just take care, please?" He gave her a look, though she didn't look back, with a hint of longing.
Judy didn't realize they were stationed outside her apartment building. All the bickering had her distracted.
"Jude? Judy!"
She spun from the window to meet his gaze, eyes slightly widened from the quiet raise in his voice. A light red stained her cheeks.
"I need you. Please. Take care."
She muttered out a pitiful 'mhm' and ran to the apartment building, not sparing a moment. She fumbled with the keys to her apartment, but got in eventually.aq

Judy groaned and slipped deeper into the water, the crimson red still going strong from ear to ear. She was now fully submerged in the bath water. The glass of wine was retired to the counter, as she was unable to hold it. Instead she held her hands to her cheeks. Was this what it felt like to be smitten? If so, she was positively. Something so insignificant, so idiotic, had her blushing like an idiot.
'He said that he needed me..,'
Why would he need her? He's well off on his own. She was, well, her. It was a mystery, really. He was a mystery too. The only clue she to solving Brian's weird nature was the blush on her face, wine red as ever.
