Theres some days you spend
With your head in a book
Digital or physical
Reading the careless travesties of characters whose lives
Resemble a piece of your own
The ones who have scars lining their hands
Their wrists
Their torsos
Their faces
You are reminded by their struggles
By the love you have for them
That you are lovable too
You are reminded by the emotion you feel
The anger towards those who have wronged them
That your own anger and frustrations
Are valid
That they do not diminish your good qualities
They do not dampen your fire
That the darkness you feel deep inside
That you keep hidden away
Out of fear of losing everything and everyone
Who makes the fire inside of you burn
You fear that if they ever saw how angry you truly are inside
How frightened
How damaged
They would deem you to be unlovable
Unredeemable
Lost
But in the same way that your heart twists
And you feel your bones ache for the release
The release from the constant burning in your throat
The constant clenching of your jaw
Biting back every retort like a muzzled animal
There are people out there who would love you
And deem you to be as worthy and as precious
As you see them to be
People who would take the time to read your story
Learn your past
Your scars
Your hurts
Your tears
Your fears
And
Your anger
And will love you
Just like you love the characters in your books
You are not broken
You are not worthless
You are the character people will love
And find comfort in
See themselves in
And smile about
Within the chapters of this book
So read on
And do it for them
