While Louis went on and on talking about something that happened to him during the day, I sat there feeling a little lethargic all of a sudden, but when the food came, I perked up.
"Here you are," The waiter set my plate down after getting rid of Lou's and Annie's first, " Carbonara for the lady."
I looked down at my plate of food with an initial feeling of nausea, but once the smell hit my nostrils, it went away. Now I was finally hungry, and once everyone had a plate in front of them, I didn't hold back as I started twirling pasta noodles around my fork. Eloise was grunting quietly next to me in frustration, and when I looked over at her and saw that she was struggling to cut up her piece of chicken that Harry ordered for her. Her eyebrows were pulled together just like Harry would do whenever he was focused on something, and after waiting to see if she could do it on her own, I decided to quietly offer my assistance.
I used my fork to hold down the piece of chicken while she used the side of her own fork to break a piece of it away, and when she finally got it, she looked up at me and grinned, "Thanks Ollie." She said before shoving the food into her mouth, which was already proving to be a much bigger bite than she should have taken. I suppressed a laugh while she attempted to chew in, and when she realized that she just couldn't do it, she ended up spitting some of it out into a napkin.
"Eloise, what on earth are you doing?" I heard Harry ask her after he noticed her spitting the food out. "Don't you like it?"
Before Eloise could reply, Louis said something to Harry that grabbed his attention once again, and our eyes met very briefly as he averted his eyes. We had both agreed to discuss our engagement tonight no matter what happens, because it was just really important for Louis and Annie to know, but I had no idea when the best time to do it would be. I think Harry was trying to tell him, but Louis apparently had a lot to say tonight, so finding the chance to talk was proving to be rather difficult.
"Olsen, you seem stressed about something." Annie randomly stated while Louis and Harry were talking over a glass of beer. I was driving us home in the SUV so that Harry could relax tonight after a long week, but I had no desire to drink even a small amount of wine. When I looked up at her, she looked a little worried as she continued to ask me, "Is everything okay?"
I nodded my head, "Yeah, of course." Everything really was great for the most part, but here lately I've just been feeling off, and I couldn't explain why.
Annie just bit down on her lip as she looked seemingly unconvinced, but she nodded her head anyway and replied, "Okay."
After she dropped it, Harry cleared his throat and suddenly looked over at me, "Uh, Olsen and I wanted to tell you both something." I widened my eyes a little, and he continued to say, "We are um, going to get married."
It all happened so fast, and next thing I knew, Annie and Louis were both collectively congratulating us, as welp as squealing in excitement. Annie looked at me with a big grin and said, "No wonder you seem stressed, you're getting married!" She laughed too, and I joined in a little at the end although I knew deep down that getting married couldn't have been the reason for my alleged stress. How Annie knew that about me without speaking directly to me first, I had no idea, but she was absolutely right. I was very stressed out about something, but I didn't know what it was that could be causing it.
After the congratulations were all said and done, everyone settled down once again and we continued to focus on eating, while casually discussing the engagement as well. I didn't really speak because my cheeks were full the whole time, but there wasn't really much to talk about anyway since Harry and I haven't made any wedding plans yet. I was fine with that, because even though I knew that Harry was the one that I wanted to spend my life with, a semi long engagement just sounded like a good idea to me.
