“I don’t know, Nick.” Atty. Ferdinand Sandoval continued talking. “I have nothing against Lee Ann pero hindi ba pumasok sa isipan mo na nag-aaral pa sya? She’s eleven years younger than you.
Unfair sa kanya to be in a serious relationship with me?” Nickolai asked, his voice filled with disbelief.
“What are you trying to say, Dad? Why are you saying these things? If you have nothing against Lee Ann and mine’s relationship dapat sumuporta na lang po kayo. What is it exactly that you do not approve aside from her being too young and me being too old for her?”
“Nick, you have my support, ang sa akin lang naman masyado pang bata si Lee Ann—“
“That’s bullshit, Dad and you know it!” Nickolai snapped and Alexander intervened.
He said. Lee Ann is a smart girl, she speaks her mind and she doesn’t need other people to do the thinking for her.”
He called before he died at ang sabi nya alagaan ko kayo. Para ko na kayong mga anak and I have no other intention but to look after your welfare.
Lee Ann replied. “And thank you for taking your promise to Dad seriously. My Mom was ten years younger than Dad. And your wife, Tita Michella was eight years younger than you so it obviously has nothing to do with my age kahit na po ba I was younger than them when they met you and Dad.”
“Tito, I can sense that your main contention really is not my age but the fact that a young girl’s heart and mind are often fickle. And since I’m just sixteen, you’re actually scared for Nick. She asked and Atty. Ferdinand stared at her before he sagely nodded.
“Baka magkasakitan kayo, Lee.” He answered. “Anak ko si Nickolai at anak din ang tingin ko sayo and I will be brokenhearted kung may isa sa inyo ang masasaktan dito.”
“And we’ll both be broken if we don’t give this relationship a try, Tito.” Lee Ann replied and Nickolai couldn’t help but feel proud. “Naiintindihan ko naman po yung concern ninyo and this might sound cheesy but I’ve waited for Nickolai. I wanted no one else but him and I wished for years for him to love me back. So if you’re worried that I might change my mind and my heart, I want you to remember that it’s been more than a decade since and I still feel the same way.”
