Dearest ex-friends,
I apologized on the third day. Ian, you said you thought Zoe already knew because she was my best friend. Zoe, you were so hurt that I didn't tell you. I wrote down our exchange after we had it. I don't know why, but I did because I was so confused and upset but I blamed myself. Because of course I should have told you, too. Ian did the right thing.
In case you forgot, the exchange went a little something like this.
"You should have told Zoe. Leaving her out of things is not going to make your friendship stronger. No wonder she was angry at you. But we all need to forgive and forget." -Ian
"I just, I'm sorry but I was going to tell her-" -Me
"When?" -Zoe
"I don't know." -Me
"Exactly. Look, you're my best friend, Laila, but sometimes you frustrate me."-Zoe
I remember taking a deep breath, trying to calm my anger. I didn't feel like I had the right to be angry. "I just- it doesn't matter. Are we good?"
You guys said it was fine, but I had to tell both of you everything.
