We rush back to the hospital, we enter in and see everyone outside waiting for the ambulance. We all sit around as someone tells us what is happening.
"Car accident." Says The Chief. "Unknown injuries, so, be careful when you are working with him everyone!"
We all nod as we hear the ambulance come in and park. The back opens and Chris comes out and reels the man out.
"54 year old male." He reads as we take him inside. "No allergies, only victim."
I nod and thank him and start heading inside where everyone else is. I see Grace standing there looking at the spot where the man got reeled in.
"You okay?" I ask.
"Nope." She shakes her head. "Not at all." She sighs. "I know who that is."
"Oh, I'm sorry." I say. "We'll try our best to fix him up."
"That's my father." She looks into my eyes, I feel my mouth gape open.
"W-what?" I ask.
We start walking in and heading to his room, I walk in the room and see David and his group taking him somewhere.
"Where are you guys taking him?" I ask.
"We are going to the CT." He says. "We don't know if there is any internal injury in him."
I look back at Grace, who is looking at the man being reeled out. I look back at David.
"Just be careful with him." I say, he raises his eyebrow. "He is Grace's father."
"A-and Skylar's..." He says, oh my god I just realized that. How am I supposed to meet Skylar's father without Skylar being here?! "We'll be super careful, like any other patient."
"Okay." I nod. "Tell me if there is anything, okay?"
He nods and leaves the room, I go up to Grace.
"Come on." I say. "I know what will cheer you up."
"I uh-" She says. "Okay..."
We head down to the cafeteria, which is empty. On our way there I grabbed a sheet of paper and a pen. We sit down at one of the tables and I put them in front of Grace, she looks up at me and raises her eyebrow in question.
"Write a letter to Skylar." I say. "Tell her about yourself, your childhood, or anything else you can think of."
"Thanks Laura." She smiles. "I have been trying to find a time to do this."
I nod and she starts writing, after a while she stops and hands me the paper. I take her's and mine, which I wrote last night, and we start heading to the post office.
We drive in comfortable silence as the music blasts and we jam along to it. We take the letters to a man and he says he will take care of them for us, we thank him and go back to the hospital.
"If you want to take today off, I can cover for you." I say.
"It's okay." She shakes her head. "I need to talk to him anyways."
I nod and I park in front of the hospital, we exit the car and go to his room. I have heard that his name is Bill, so I should probably call him that. We head into the room and see him laying there, I see David looking at the papers, he speaks up.
"There are no internal injuries or head damages." He says, Grace and I nod. "But he has a couple of broken bones, he got lucky, to say the least."
"Thanks David." I say and he nods, leaving the room.
Grace and I sit down, waiting for him to wake up.
"What are you going to say to him?" I ask.
"Ask why I didn't know about my sister sooner." She says. "Why SHE didn't know about US, and why the hell he was in a car accident."
"Good start." I smile as she laughs.
"What about you?" She asks me.
"What?" I ask.
"Well you are going to be meeting Skylar's dad." She says. "Might as well get to know him before she sees him, you never know what they'll be like to each other."
"I-" I sigh. "I have no clue on what I am going to say."
"Skylar..." We hear a faint voice and we look at Bill, whose eyes are open. "Grace..?"
