Chapter eight

I’m sorry

I stared at my screen looking at the last text from Jill. She had sent it this morning. How did she know about the kiss? The only people that knew about it was Liam and I. Unless Liam told Jill. I decide to call Jill and get on with it.

“YOU KISSED LIAM! WHERE DID YOU RUN OFF TO BROOKES! YOU HAVE SOME SERIOUS EXPLAINING TO DO.”

I winced at her loud voice that boomed on the phone.

“Hello to you too best friend.”

“Best friend my ass, you kiss Liam, run away and don’t even bother to call me.”

I could just picture the cute pout on her face. A small amused smile appeared on my face. Jill had always been so dramatic.

“The kiss was a mistake, a moment I wish I could erase. I went to see my mum in Dallas and I just got back. I’m sorry I didn’t call you sooner. How did you find out about the kiss anyway?”

“Liam told me”

“What? He talked to you!”

“Yep. He was desperate trying to find you. You kissed him, ran to your room and disappeared. He got worried and ended up calling me. I dint even know that he had mu number if we knew that kissing him would make him talk to me, I would have pushed you to kiss him the second I met him. His voice is dreamy when he speaks in full sentences.”

We ended up talking for long and by the time we hang up, it was dark outside. I sneaked in the kitchen carefully not to make any noise. I was hoping Liam had gone back to his house. I quickly took a packet of crackles and a bottle of juice and ran for my room.

“Not so fast Lisa,”

I froze on the stairs and looked at my father. He gave me a questioning look and I gave him an innocent smile.

“Want to tell me why you are avoiding Liam?”

“I’m not avoiding him.”

“Really. Running away from your best friend and coming to Dallas is called avoiding your best friend.”

“Umm…I’m not hungry so don’t count me for dinner .I love you goodnight bye.”

“Don’t walk away from me. We are still talking. Lisa.”

I ran for my room and ignored his voice. I changed my mind, fuck attention, let us go back to when he had stopped getting in my business. I locked my bedroom door and gave out a long sigh.

“Nooooooooo”

I moaned as Jill pulled my hand. After a week of successfully avoiding Liam and Jill, Jill had had enough and came to drag me out. She forced me to wake up, take a shower and put on a summer dress. She promised that Liam was at work and she had missed hanging out with me.

She pulled through the path leading to our secret lake. If I had concentrated less on the fact that she dragged me from my self-pity party, I would have been suspicious of how she knew the way to the lake. I had never taken Jill to the lake. It had always been Liam and mine hang out place.

When we reached the lake, I noticed the music coming out from some source and Liam standing with his hands in his pocket. I tried to retreat but Jill caught me. I looked at her with an accusing look. She had promised that Liam was at work. Since when had they been so buddy buddy that they had planned to trick me?

“Don’t look at me like that? Liam spoke to me. Do you know how rare that is? And you need to get this over with. I’m sorry”

I rolled my eyes and looked away. What a stupid reason. Traitor.

A cold hand touched my bare shoulders and a finger held my chin. Liam raised my chin forcing me to look at him.

“So you kiss me and run away. How’s that fair?”

I looked away in embarrassment.

“You know, I had planned to ask you to prom but you ran away and we missed it. So you owe me a dance Miss. Brookes”

I was now confused. Prom? Dance? Was this some kind of prank or something? Liam did not do social events.

Before I could ask him what he meant, his lips covered mine. I had imagined kissing Liam several times but nothing could have compared to this. He gently sucked my lower lip and ran his tongue around them in a teasing way. I parted my lips a bit and he slowly explode mouth. A warm feeling spread through my body. He snaked his arm around me and pulled me closer. I put my hands around his neck and enjoyed the kiss. We pulled apart to catch our breaths. He gave me a small smile and licked his lips. He was a good kisser, a really good kisser, where had he learnt to kiss like that?

“I knew I hadn’t imagined that. Tastes just like strawberry.”

My cheeks turned red as he whispered the words to me, he took his phone and played a slow song. He held my waste and I put my arms around his neck. I laid my head on his chest. We slowly danced to the soft melody and Labyrinth’s soothing voice.

“Liam”

“Mm”

“I like you”

“I like you too weirdo.”

A full smile broke on my face and I looked at his gray eyes, those damn gray eyes.  I looked at his broad chest and noticed something. He was dressed in a white t shirt, some black jeans and a tailored coat,

“Where did you steal the coat from?”

“Ha-ha very funny. But just so you know, I bought a suit for prom.”

“Oow how romantic.”

He playfully pouted and I couldn’t resist, I kissed him again.

We had fun in the lake and around it just like we always do. Except this time, there was a lot of kissing involved.

That night, I dreamt about lots of kisses, little gray eyes and a white picket fence. And this time, it brought a smile on my face. I think I just dreamt the future.

“Russo Liam .”

My boyfriend, yep my boyfriend. It was surreal that my best friend liked me back and was now my boyfriend. He gracefully and confidently walked to the stage and took his high school diploma certificate. He looked dashing in his full black tailored suit. I screamed the loudest when he shook the principles hand.

After the graduation, my parents threw a small cook out on our backyard and we had fun. Jill and her parents were around, my parents and even Mr. White. We danced, ate, talked and played weird games. In the middle of the night, Liam pulled me aside and we went to my bedroom. We made out for a while and ended up exploring each other, repeatedly . I fell asleep on his chest.

I woke up feeling sore and empty. Liam must have woken up early and went back to his house. There was a colorful beaded bracelet on the dresser. I smiled when I saw it. Liam was so sweet. My smile left me when I read the beads.

I’m sorry
