You ended up walking around for most of the day. When you finally got to your apartment building, you couldn't will yourself to go inside. You walked around to the side instead and climbed up the fire escape to your room. You peered inside and saw that everything had been torn apart. Your parents were probably looking for money or something they thought they lost the night before. You sighed, turning around and sat down. You dangled your legs for a bit and decided to shoot Peter a text, to apologize for the weirdness earlier.
Y/n: Hey, sorry I ran off earlier
Peter: It's okay, are you home?
Y/n: Sort of? I'm on the fire escape lol
Peter: You could come back
Y/n: Thanks, but I'll see you tomorrow
Peter: Let me know if you change your mind
You went to put your phone back in your pocket, but as you did it slipped from your grasp and you didn't catch it in time. Before it could crash it was suddenly wrapped in white, dangling just above the ground.
"Spider-man?" You asked the mask hero that took your phone out of the web and swung up to you.
"Drop something?" He smirked underneath his mask.
"Yeah, thanks." You nodded, feeling less nervous than you thought you would be.
"You look upset." He said, sitting next to you, dangling his legs next to yours.
"I'm sure you have better things to do then talk to me, but thanks again for saving my phone." You smiled gratefully at him.
"Do you always do that?" He surprised you with the question.
"Try to give people an out so that it doesn't hurt if they don't want to hang out with you?"
"I don't even know you."
"You're right, my fault. Hi, I'm Spider-man." He held out a gloved hand and you scoffed at his sarcasm.
"Y/n." You took his hand and shook it quick.
"Now tell me, Y/n, what's got the most beautiful girl in New York upset?" He remembered to deepen his voice and he got a bit braver in his suit, knowing his identity was concealed.
"Same old, same old. Crappy parents, boy problems." You laughed.
"Have I seen you around? Maybe at the Avengers Tower? You look familiar." He asked. He didn't know what to make of the 'boy problems' because he wasn't sure if you meant him being a jackass this morning or maybe someone else. Either way he wasn't happy about it.
"I was there yesterday and the day before that, but I didn't see you."
"Are you gonna come back?" He asked, hope filling his voice.
"I was going to, but I feel like an intruder. I think they're only nice to me because I'm friends with someone who works there. Except Natasha, she doesn't know."
"That's not true."
"How would you know?"
"I can tell you're a good person and everyone you meet loves you."
Before you could respond there was a crash from inside making both of you jump. You stood up, looking in the direction and he followed your movements.
"It was really cool to meet you, Spidey, and thanks for cheering me up, but I gotta go." You didn't tear your eyes from the window, "I'll be at the Tower tomorrow after school with Peter, would you wanna hang out with us? You can keep your mask on."
