i had just returned home from a wonderful date with sana. she was as sweet as ever, we both sat on the same side of the booth, and she spent most of her time nuzzling up to my shoulder and neck. and although she's so goddamn pretty, i couldn't help but think of sooyoung.
and to think, i thought i was moving on from her.
as i returned home from another date with sana, i entered my bedroom, where sooyoung was on her bed, laying on her stomach while reading a magazine.
"how was your day?" i asked her as i bounced into the room.
"fine," she grumbled. "you?"
"great! i went to get boba with sana. oh, and she insisted that we get you a cup, so i brought it back for you. it's strawberry, your favorite!" i handed her the cold cup and she gave me a look of confusion.
"why does sana care about getting me bubble tea?"
"because she knows that we're roommates and she was being polite-"
"yerim, i know exactly what you're trying to do right now. just quit it, it's not going to work," sooyoung spat, and her words hit me in the chest like a bullet.
"wh-what are you talking about?" i asked, furrowing my brow.
"you're trying to rub it in. you're trying to make me feel bad that you're dating sana."
"no i'm not-"
"you're trying to make me jealous!"
"why do you think that?"
"do you think that i'm stupid, yerim? you're trying to make me jealous because you think i have feelings for you!"
"and do you?"
"no. absolutely not."
ouch.
"you're doing it again." my eyes welled with tears as i spoke to sooyoung.
"doing what?"
"being a bitch." i snapped and darted out of the room, slamming the door behind me.
maybe sooyoung wasn't completely wrong. maybe i was being annoying, and i was trying to make her jealous, but i didn't want it to end up like this. at this point, i didn't even know what i wanted.
i just wanted her.

for the next few hours, i sat in the living area with joohyun, because i felt like sooyoung needed some space for a bit. we sat there watching some reality show on tv, something dumb and mindless to numb my brain from the arguing earlier.
seungwan and seulgi were in the kitchen, goofing around and being idiots while they were struggling to follow the instructions for some stupidly simple recipe. i could hear their constant laughing and giggling until suddenly, it stopped.
sooyoung had come out of the bathroom, looking drastically different. her red tones in her hair were completely gone, replaced by a sleek black color. she looked like an enirely different person, her hair seemed to frame her face so differently with this color.
"s-sooyoung, what happened to your hair?" seungwan asked her, giving her an eye-boggling look.
"i dyed it," sooyoung said with a slight smirk. "i felt the need for a change." i could feel her avoiding my gaze.
"it looks to pretty!" seulgi rushed up to her to feel her silky raven locks.
"wow, you look so different!" joohyun complimented. "in a good way," she added.
"yeah, it looks nice," i commented quietly, and sooyoung seemed to comepletely shun my comment.
then i turned back to the tv show i was watching, hoping to entirely numb my mind so i could forget all about our argument this afternoon, forget all about her new black hair, and forget all about her.
