"I-I'm sorry the what?"
"The Avengers. Don't they always take care of that stuff?" You asked, shutting your locker and turning to him.
"Uh, y-yeah I guess so."
"So, maybe if we're going to do a project on the alien attacks, we should focus on them too." You clutched your books to your chest.
"I-I mean I g-guess so." He rubbed the back of his neck, looking away.
"Peter, are you okay?"
"Y-yeah, of course, so do you want to come over and work on it together?" He glanced over at you and let a small smile play on his lips when he saw your calm one.
"Sounds good to me." You nodded.
"O-okay, cool, I'll see you at lunch?"
"I'm skipping it, wanna get a head start on this." You smiled, "See you after school!" You spun around and walked to class before he could ask more. You had a plan and you knew he'd advise against it as it was kind of a waste of time and a bit naïve.
When the bell rang for lunch, you turned the other way and left the school. You knew you only had about an hour before you had to be back, so you needed to move quickly. You hopped on the bus, already having checked the schedule and figured out this was the fastest route, and headed off.
When you arrived, you peered up at the giant building that lied before you. No big deal, this was no big deal. The Avengers Tower was just a normal place. Sure.
You opened the door and went to the receptionist area.
"Hello, can I help you?" The man asked, whose name card said 'Damon', peering up from where he sat, silently judging you, probably for your age.
"Hi, Damon, I'm here to see the Avengers. Or just one. Any of the Avengers please." You gave your best convincing smile.
"Listen, kid-" He started before he was cut off by a voice behind you saying,
"Is there a problem here, Mr. Austin?" You knew that voice from hearing it on TV, you slowly turned around and let out a small gasp.
"M-Mr. Stark." You sputtered out, "I-I didn't mean to bother you."
"What are you here for, Miss..."
"L/n. Y/n L/n." You held out your hand and he shook it.
"I thought you looked familiar." He mumbled, but you didn't quite catch it. He spoke up asking, "Can I help you with anything?"
"She wants to meet the Avengers." Damon answered with an eyeroll before you could respond.
"I-it's for a project, for school. Me and my partner Peter are doing a project on the attacks and I thought it'd be imperative to involve the Avengers, you, in it because, well, you guys saved the world." You blurted, nervously.
"I happen to have the afternoon free." Tony smirked.
"Actually sir, you have meetings-" Damon started.
"Then clear them." He snapped, leading you to the elevator. You could feel Damon glaring at you and you smirked.
"So, are you writing this down?" He asked when you were in the elevator.
"Oh, yes!" You rummaged through your pack and pull out a notebook and pen.
"Give me your best shot."
"Well, all my classmates are going after the details of the battle..." You trailed off, noticing his breathing was getting heavier, "But I wanted to just do our project on the Avengers. Just who they are behind their battle gear and what brought them together." You instantly noticed him calming down.
