Later that afternoon, as Miles di Angelo quietly sulked at his desk, Riza Hawkeye found herself becoming fed up with her friend's not-so-honorable desperateness. She sat a stack on papers down with an audible sigh, pushing her chair back and walking across the room.
"Major di Angelo," she called out, and he looked up to see her standing over him with piercing eyes. Riza was almost always serious, but in that moment there was a special kind of seriousness in her eyes. "I saw what happened earlier. Pitiful."
Under any other circumstance Miles would have burst out laughing at what she had said, but this wasn't any other circumstance. So instead he groaned shortly, slumping deeper into his chair.
"Leave me alone. I'm trying to figure out where Scar is headed."
"Ah, so you have no time to make a bigger idiot of yourself?" Her deadpan tone made it hard to tell she was joking, but as Miles saw the corner of her mouth quirk upwards he found his heart swelling. "Let me try something for you."
She walked away without another word and with no time for him to protest, stalking up to the Flame Alchemist's desk. He sat still, actually looking over some paperwork. It had Maes Hughes name signed at the bottom, and held the description of an Ishvalan man named Scar. It seemed as if he had been assigned to the case as well.
"Colonel Mustang."
Roy looked up immediately, caught off by her sudden presence. "What is it, First Lieutenant?"
"Well... Sir, lately I've been thinking about the future," the blonde lied easily, "and as my superior, I was wondering if you had any plans to settle down anytime soon?"
"What do you mean?" He questioned, perking an eyebrow.
"Well... you know, getting married. Having children. Raising a family with your spouse, growing old together. Stuff like that." She looked towards Miles slyly. "I wonder what the others have to say."
"Then you can ask them!" Roy cried, laughing as if her suggestion was the most outlandish thing in Amestris. "But you know my goals, Hawkeye! I have no time for a family right now, I have to become the Fuhrer!"
She stared at him blankly for a few moments, before shaking her head with a sigh louder than the one minutes before. Roy was caught off guard by her reaction, his eyes widening in a surprise innocence.
"You're insufferable."
"Hey!"
