Black. It surrounded me. It engulfed me. It suffocated me until I couldn't move, couldn't see, couldn't speak, couldn't feel. I felt as if someone had a tight grip on my shoulders and they weren't letting go. They started shaking me suddenly. I heard a voice In the back of my head.
"Excuse me, sir? Sir are you okay??"
They called, almost frantically.
Suddenly I was getting the impression this wasn't just a feeling. No, this was really happening. And as my eyes snapped open, I was unfortunately looking straight up. The light of mid-day burned my eyes. I shut them quickly and winced at the sudden stinging sensation in the back of my head and the arch of my back.
"Oh my god, you're awake! Cry he's awake!"
Cry? I'm not crying. It was a woman's voice. High pitched with an accent. I wasn't 100% on what accent, but then again, I'm not really 100% on life right now.
"Hello? Are you okay?"
A thick, somewhat deep voice spoke now. I slowly opened my eyes again and took in the people looming over and kneeling next to me.
The woman had long brownish, blackish hair with long purple bangs. she wore bright blue skinny jeans with a light grey, tight shirt. The sleeves came down halfway and the hem around her neck dipped down, showing some- but not to much- cleavage. She smiled brightly down at me and I couldn't help but smile weakly back.
I looked over at the man. Taken aback by surprise, I looked over the white, poker faced mask that covered his face. A single hair sprouting from the top and thin, invisible strong securing it around his head, full of luscious, thick brown hair. He wore a bright green hoodie and black, baggy skinny jeans, ripped at the knees. He spoke again.
"Hi there.. Looks like you took a bit of a nasty fall there, friend.."
His voice almost melts in your ears. It was just then I remembered falling three-fourths of the way down the ladder to the roof. How did I even survive that..?
I lay in a back alleyway, just woken up by two complete strangers, pain shooting through my head and my back. However, that didn't stop the adrenaline from kicking in.
I suddenly stood up on me feet, putting a hand over the pocket knife in my back pocket.
"Who are you and why are you here?"
I said uneasily, staring straight into their eyes. The man looked completely neutral- or at least I think he did. The woman put her hands up and shook her head.
"Whoa whoa whoa.. We don't want any trouble. This alleyway is a shortcut to our apartment.. We saw you and figured you needed help. My name is Minx.."
She gestured to the man.
"And this here is Cry."
So that's why she said cry earlier.
"Odd names... How do I know I can trust you?" I asked frantically.
She gave me a warm smile and they both stood up.
"We don't want to hurt you, It's okay." Cry spoke.
His voice almost seduced me. I instantaneously took my hand away from the pocket knife and looked them both up and down.
"Fine..." I said calmly. I felt more safe trusting them than threatening them, if I'm completely honest.
Minx's smile grew and the held out her hand. I cautiously took it and shook it slowly.
