Awaken

Jinyoung is floating when he is suddenly pulled to his consciousness. What happened? He can't think, he tries to open his eyes but everything is too bright, the light goes into his eyes making it hurt. Jinyoung closes his eyes again. But he's curious, where is he? Jinyoung cracks his eyes open again, wincing when the light coming into his pupils, everything is still unclear.
What's this sound? It's like a constant beeping of a hospital monitor. Oh yeah, he's still in the hospital. Jinyoung remembers having a fever, the sickness assaulting him, making him weaker and weaker by the day, and then choking, he couldn't breathe.
Suddenly he is suffocating, like he's being drowned in the water. He tries to breathe but it feels so painful. A horrendous sensation is being shoved into him at once, Jinyoung squirms. He's beyond terrified, he doesn't know what's happening to him and it's scary.

What is this on his mouth? It's so disturbing, is it why Jinyoung can't breathe? Jinyoung tries to lift his hand to get rid of the annoyance, but a strong grip stops him.
"Jinyoung ah, Jinyoung ah.. don't touch that".
Who's that? Mark hyung? Jinyoung cracks open his eyes again to see. Everything is still blurry, he's not sure.
"Don't fight it, it's helping you to breathe. Slowly now, let it breathe for you, just calm down".
It's Mark hyung, Jinyoung recognizes his deep voice. Jinyoung tries to speak but he can't. Something is blocking his throat, he can't speak. It's making him more scared, he's becoming more agitated.
Jinyoung can see with his blurry vision that someone is coming near him.
"He's waking up but I think he's panicking", Jinyoung can hear Mark says to someone entering his room.
"I'll give him something to calm him down", it's a woman's voice.
"Jinyoung ah, look at me, look at me", Mark leans his body closer to Jinyoung, Jinyoung is more than happy that he can see Mark clearer. He's wearing mask, but those deer eyes are definitely Mark's, "calm dowm, you'll hurt yourself if you don't calm down. Don't fight the vent. It's helping you. Breathe with it, nice and slowly now", Mark pulls Jinyoung's palm to his chest. Jinyoung can feel Mark's heartbeat and he suddenly feels at peace.
"That's right, don't fight it.. ", Mark's voice is lulling him. Jinyoung still feels suffocated, but slowly he becomes used to whatever it is. Mark says it's helping him and he believes in Mark.
He can breathe now that he stops fighting. Mark huffs, feeling relieved that the younger guy seems a lot calmer.

Hyung, Jinyoung calls Mark in his head because he can't speak. Jinyoung looks at Mark, from his look, Mark knows that Jinyoung is demanding answer. Mark can always understand Jinyoung.
"You've got pneumonia", Mark explains, eyes never leaving Jinyoung. Somehow he has a feeling that Jinyoung is calmer when he sees his hyung.
"It's pretty severe that dr Song had to put you under with drugs, and you're on ventilator because phlegm messing up with your lungs. That's why you can't speak".
Jinyoung can't really understand what Mark is saying but he knows it's pretty bad.
The nurse comes in again and she injects something to Jinyoung's IV. Slowly Jinyoung feels a lot better.
"I'll go get your mom", Mark says. But Jinyoung doesn't want to let his hands go. Mark looks at Jinyoung, the younger looks very scared and vulnerable.
Mark sighs, "okay, I won't leave your side. I'll ask the nurse to go get her".
Jinyoung is so grateful that Mark can always understands what he's feeling without having to say anything.
Jinyoung's mom comes rushing to her son after the nurse told him that Jinyoung is waking up.
Mark steps aside to give Jinyoung's mother a chance to be with her son, but Jinyoung is still reluctant to let Mark hands go.
"Jinyoung ah, thank Goodness my son...", the beautiful lady is crying.
Mark pats Jinyoung's hands gently, "let me go, Jinyoung. I'm going to tell your father too, only two people can be in here so I have to get out. Don't worry I'll be back".
Mark tells Jinyoung's father who is waiting outside if the ICU room to go inside. He's so anxious to meet his son.
After the strong dad leaves, Mark sits on the sofa at the waiting room to send message to his other member.

Within seconds, all members are replying with all kinds of emojis. Mark chuckles, those boys are really something.
Mark huffs, his heart feels lighter now that he knows Jinyoung is going to be okay. Mark smiles. He suddenly feels the urge to find a coffee machine. With a big smile in his face, Mark stands up and leaves.
