Twenty seconds later, Cadell dragged himself through a portal to Psycho's Asylum. Blood drenched the super suit.
Elijah jumped out his seat, smiling. "Cad! Sara's going to—"
"I don't want to know," Cadell said. He grunted from broken bones pricking his skin.
"Thank you for everything, Elijah. I couldn't have done any of this without you. I'm proud of what we achieved."
The vigilante trudged past his best friend. A murky, black portal loomed ahead. Half a head vanished in the abyss. "I officially give you permission to write the comic script, but I won't be able to help you."
Just as Cadell entered Dimension 0, Elijah tackled him down.
"Where the fuck do you think you're going?" Elijah said, standing up.
Cadell stayed down on his back. "This is for the best. I'm too dangerous. I promised myself that this would be the perfect place for me if I killed my brother. This place provides the perfect punishment-- an infinity year life sentence with the voice."
Cadell closed his eyes. "There's a portal to your side. Now leave me be."
"Don't be stupid. Come back. There was nothing wrong with killing Monster."
"Wrong or not, it was an accident. Just like my parents. Do you see a trend here, Elijah? What's having good intentions if I'm a death hazard? What's saving one thousand if I accidentally kill one poor sucker? I'm done with this."
Elijah rubbed tired eyes. "Mistakes happen, man. We can keep you on medication. You don't have to use the seizure again."
"I've made my decision," Cadell said, staggering to his feet. "Don't make me force you out of here."
Elijah readily slipped on infrared specs. "That's funny. I was going to say the same thing."
Cadell's sluggish punch went wide. Elijah's fist sunk into Cadell's stomach. Their second punches connected at the same time, and they both stumbled.
Both boys didn't bother dodging as they beat the crap out of each other. There was no technique. There were no portals. There were no flashy moves. It was just a simple brawl.
Thud, thud, thud. Cadell's tooth flew in the air.
Thud, thud, squelch. Elijah's left eye closed shut
"Why..." Cadell said, panting. "... do you give a shit? This has nothing to do with you."
"I'm your friend," Elijah replied, flames enveloping him. "This has everything to do with me. It's my job... to stop you from doing stupid shit. This city needs you. There are lives to save. What happened to cleansing? Don't... run from your responsibilities, Psycho."
Don't be a coward, boy, the voice said. You must cleanse this city. You still have work to do.
"You both have a point," The vigilante wheezed. "But first... I think I'm going to take a fucking nap."
