We were in the kitchen eating breakfast. Del and I were eating Vi's breakfast. Cyan and Cole were eating omelets and hash browns and bacon and sausage. Honey was chowing down on hers too.
I looked up.
"What's up?" Del asked.
"I just thought of something I wanna try to get for Honey, but I dunno how I'm gonna do it."
I was gonna grab my terminal, but that wouldn't help when I didn't know what it was called.
Cole came up for air. "What is it?"
"I forget what's called. I'm not sure if you call it the same thing if you have one."
"What do you mean?" Del asked.
I furrowed my eyebrows. "We had a brother. It didn't matter if it was a soda or not, he always called it a Coke?"
Cole raised his eyebrows. "What's a Coke?"
"Do you guys have a thing called Cola? I think that's what it is. It's a soda."
"Oh, that soda people put on ice cream," Cyan said.
Del turned his head. "I don't think people use Coke for that. At least not in our country."
"Not if you have little kids," I added.
"Well, what's it look like?" Cyan asked.
"I dunno how to describe it..." I looked at Del. "It was something you and I played with as kids."
He went to open his mouth.
"Not the one with marbles," I said. "I don't think you could play that with a dog."
"What do you do with it?" Cole asked.
"You throw it," I said.
Cole suggested, "A baseball?"
"It's not a ball," I said. "It's round, but it's not round."
Del jumped up. "I think I know what you're talking about, Star! I need to find my phone!"
Cole went to grab his wrist.
Del practically jumped back. "It's too much of a brand. I doubt your terminal will know what it is."
Del spent the next ten minutes or so in our room looking for his phone.
Cole and Cyan exchanged glances when he got back.
"This is what you're talking about, isn't it?" Del showed me his phone.
I smiled. "Yeah, yeah! That thing!"
Cole and Cyan got up to look at the thing Del had shown me. "You want a Hi-Disc?"
"That's not what we call it in our country," Del replied.
