What I've Done

"I can't believe I've been working here for over a year now it's crazy," I say to my best friend Cal as I serve him his usual latte order, I've been working at Missile brew since my mom helped me get the job from one of her friends.

"Thanks, Auzzy and it's crazy and when do you clock off today?" Cal asked me probably wanting me to go skate or help fix the local park.

"Two o'clock then it is off to the arcade with my brother, I swear every time I play street fighter 2 against him, you know that he gets better it's irritating me cause that was my game to kick ass at," I say to him while cleaning tables it was around noon and surprisingly almost empty since that's our busiest time of day then a customer finally came in he seemed no older than me I couldn't stop looking at him for some reason he seemed familiar in some sense.

I went to the tills to serve the customer "Hey there welcome to Missile brew what can I get for you today?" I ask them and he seemed familiar but can't quite place it where I've seen him before since he hasn't come into the shop before.

"I order it on the app, it's a caramel macchiato with extra caramel and decaf it's under the name Oliver, I paid on the app and it is for taking away," he says with a smile and in a warm soft tone, I can see Cal making stupid faces and I'm trying to not smile or laugh.

"No problem I'll go make that for you now, it'll be a few minutes" I reply to the teenager with a smile heading to the coffee machine something I hated doing but I have to for the customer and begin to make the order and finally finish it and hand it over to the boy with him leaving a twenty-cent tip on his way out.

My shift had finally ended, and I headed home to change and pick-up Nico to take him to the arcade since I have been too busy to do it all week, so I owe him it. After he grabs his bag and meds for his blackouts, we head to the main street for some pizza then we went to the arcade.

We had finally gotten to the arcade and he sprints his way over to the Mortal Kombat game cabinet and inserted enough for two players, we played the game for an hour or so of getting my ass kicked by my little brother before deciding to grab some pizza.

"How was your day Nic?" I asked my little brother while getting my wallet out so we can pay for the pizza

"It was pretty good abueltia came over and took me to the park for a bit then abuletio came to take us to Aguilárs' for lunch then we went to go visit Alex I wish I could have met her" he replied with a somber smile I could tell talking about Alex hurts him even though he's only heard about her and I can't blame him

"How are Abuelita and Abuelito?" I asked my brother to which I received no response from Nico, I turn to see my brother begin to tumble around he's having another blackout.

"Oh, shit Nico hold on," I say running and grabbing hold of him before he falls to the ground, I search inside of my backpack to get his box of medicine, I had found it finally to only see it was empty all the pills were used

I see Mr. Faulkner walk down the path towards us in a bit of a hurry "Austin is Nico okay did you give him his meds?" the older man who owns the grill my mom works at asked me worried as Nico is a close friend of his son

"He's all out I need to run to McIntyre's to grab them can you sit with him I'll be five maybe ten minutes please Elias" I explained to him with panic and worry making my voice shaky

"Of course, Austin I'll make sure he's okay" Mr. Faulkner replied with a nod I began to sprint to the pharmacy as fast as could almost being hit by cars twice and looking like a mad man I finally make it to the pharmacy and enter it.

I search the isles for the meds for Nico I find them eventually and see the price has increased, I check my wallet to see if I have money but I don't have any and I frantically check my surroundings grabbing three boxes and placing them into my bag as fast as I can to avoid being caught, as I'm making my exit I glance over at a box of other meds hesitantly then leave and sprint back to Nico and make it to him and give him his medicine as he's conscious now.
